SAN FRANCISCO, CA - In a very public reversal of fortune, Darcie Bell, a San Francisco woman known for posting anti-police rhetoric recently took to social media with a plea for help from law enforcement and concerned citizens after her rented U-Haul truck, purportedly full of all her worldly possessions, was stolen.
As reported by The New York Post, the situation became widely publicized by the independent media outlet Bay Area State of Mind, which posted Bell’s public call on December 7 with the headline, “Anti Police activist begs the police to help her after she was robbed of her U-Haul containing everything she owns in San Francisco”
In her initial post Bell wrote, “Hey guys. If you see a 26 foot uhaul truck with the Arizona plate AL50003- would you let me know because it had like everything I own on it. It was stolen near Noe and Market and fun fact: @uhaul doesn’t put gps on their trucks and thieves apparently know this.”
She continued in a thread writing, “would be cool if I could get my stuff back but also; maybe you could do something to make sure that companies like uhaul put gps on their vehicles so when theft occurs, I could at least know where my stuff went.”
“I’m like moving out of my house because I can’t afford to live here anymore, my kid just broke his femur at one of your many, underfunded SFUSD schools and there was no nurse present to help him, I had to push him to my car in a rolling office chair - lmao WTF is this city?
"I just want my shit back, the sentimental stuff, please. I don’t about the people who stole it, people steal shit, I just hope they take the stuff they need and I can recover the personal stuff that’s the stuff I’m struggling with.”
Bell, under the X account @neo_antiquarian, previously wrote that “Defunding the police is good actually, We pay them a whole lot to do less,” with the October dated post being shown as a counterpoint by X user Tom Wolf.
He described the two screenshots, “Shot. Chaser.”
Despite her public call for assistance, Bell replied to critics that she “literally never called the cops,” although UHaul reportedly urged her to do so. “Please be sure to contact us back to provide the police report to the Equipment Recovery department,” the company’s customer support account said according to the outlet.
The story has caught the attention of figures ranging from journalist Ian Miles Cheong to billionaire, X owner Elon Musk.
According to The New York Post, Bell filed a police report and subsequently criticized the police for not locating her belongings fast enough. “I haven’t found my s—! The cops didn’t do s—! U-Haul made me file a f—ing police report!” she told reporters.
“There’s cameras all over this city. They haven’t done s—! … I just want my stuff back!”
