SAN ANTONIO, TX - An illegal immigrant identified as Alberto Rafael Ferrer Cabrera, 26, was arrested Saturday in San Antonio, TX, and is being held on an immigration detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in connection with the murder of an 81-year-old man he claims was his spouse. He is facing charges of murder and illegal entry from a foreign nation per court records.
As reported by local news outlet KSAT, the San Antonio Police Department said that an officer responding to the victims’ home found the elderly man fatally stabbed.
After a brief detention, Cabrera was taken into custody for the man’s murder and booked by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently being held. According to sources within the department Cabrera confessed to the murder during his interview with detectives.
News4 San Antonio reported that the incident took place at approximately 5:00 a.m. with Cabrera calling 911 and reporting himself for killing his significant other.
An ICE detainer order was placed on him allowing 48 hours for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to take custody of him per federal law.
Police told KENS5 that the circumstances leading up to the incident are unknown at this time. The investigation is currently ongoing and no motive for the murder has been released at this time.
