Border Czar Tom Homan Reports Thousands of Missing Children Found

WASHINGTON, DC- While many people focused on the over ten million illegal aliens that flooded across our border during the nightmare that was the Biden administration, one disturbing result of that porous border was the tens of thousands of missing illegal immigrant children who went missing, many of them likely victims of sexual assault and human trafficking. Now, Border Czar Tom Homan says that over 30,000 missing children have been located, thanks to the Trump administration, the Epoch Times reports, citing a Fox News interview.

Homan, responding to unhinged Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s absurd assertion that the administration’s policies were akin to “restarting the Civil War,” said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “is out there enforcing the law. We’re taking really bad guys off the street.” He continued that the radical left is obsessed with “attack[ing] ICE. They want to throw all these false narratives.”

“Where were they when half a million children were smuggled into this country, and they lost track of 300,000? You know what President [Donald] Trump has done? I was with HHS [Health & Human Services] today. We’ve already found over 30,000 of these kids. Three weeks ago, we were at 24,000. Now, we’re over 30,000. And we’re gonna keep working till we find every one of these kids,” Homan said, referring to HHS.

Homan added that the country has “the most secure border” in history.

In a November 5 statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that border encounters nationwide in October were only 30,561, the lowest total for October in history and the “lowest start to a fiscal year” ever recorded by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The federal government’s fiscal year runs from October to September.

In the Fox interview, Homan said there is “less fentanyl killing Americans, less sex trafficking of women and children. And we’re finding children that [the] Biden administration wasn’t even looking for. And we’re the bad guys? It’s disgusting.”

Democrats and their radical base have been pushing back on the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts, with violence being committed by far-left radicals in cities from Chicago to Los Angeles, Portland to Charlotte, N.C., with ICE agencies and law enforcement officers being subject to attacks.

In September, a group of lawmakers led by Rep. Delia C. Ramirez (D-Ill) wrote to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, claiming “deep concern” over allegations the department was allowing illegal, unaccompanied children 14 and over to “self-deport” back to their home countries.

If true, such actions would contravene requirements of the bipartisan Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, which requires DHS to transfer illegal alien children into the custody of the Office of the Refugee Resettlement, and place them into proceedings held before immigration courts, the Democrat lawmakers said.

“We expect that DHS’s new policy will deprive children of due process and place them in grave danger of trafficking and other harm,” the letter said.

Now Democrats are concerned about children being trafficked, when they expressed no such concerns in the four years under the Biden administration’s open border policies.

On Oct. 3, DHS informed migrant shelters that some of the children aged 14 and above had expressed a desire to leave the United States and return home, according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press.

The letter said DHS would “provide a one-time resettlement support stipend of $2,500…to unaccompanied alien children 14 years of age and older, who have elected to voluntarily depart the United States as of the date of this notice and moving forward. [emphasis added]

The letter explained that the payments are intended to support “reintegration efforts following departure.”

In a statement, ICE spokesperson Emily Covington clarified that the offer would only apply to children aged 17. The payment would also only be approved after an immigration judge adopts the child’s voluntary departure and the individual arrives in the home nation. In other words, the children are receiving due process, contrary to Democrats’ claims.

“Many of these UACs [unaccompanied alien children] had no choice when they were dangerously smuggled into this country,” Covington said.

“ICE and the Office of Refugee and Resettlement at HHS are offering a strictly voluntary option to return home to their families. This voluntary option gives UACs a choice and allows them to make an informed decision about their future.”

Last week, ICE launched a program aimed at protecting unaccompanied children illegally smuggled into the U.S. and placed into the care of unvetted sponsors during the Biden regime, which spurred Homan’s comments.

DHS said a key part of the program is to conduct welfare checks on the children and ensure that they are safe and free from any kind of exploitation.

DHS blamed Biden’s open border policies for having “empowered” human traffickers and sex traffickers, noting that the Trump administration is taking a “sledgehammer” on such activities, The Epoch Times said.
