It has been recently reported that Tony LoBianco, an Emmy award-winning actor best known for his role in the Academy Award-winning movie, the French Connection, has passed away after battling cancer.
LoBianco was known for primarily playing law enforcement roles in major Hollywood movies and television shows. He found these roles the most rewarding and, because of it, became a strong supporter of the law enforcement community.
“I was greatly interested in police work when I got into acting,” LoBianco told LET in a previous interview several years ago.
“I went out on many calls with police … I was on murders, rapes, suicides, kidnappings … everything you could imagine and I see what police go through.”
LoBianco learned just how difficult police work is and grew a tremendous level of respect for police.
At the height of the Defund the Police and anti-police movement in 2020, LoBianco put together a moving and heartfelt message that he posted online. He wanted the entire law enforcement community to know that there were people who still stood behind them, high-profile people like himself.
And it was much needed. Morale was at an all-time low, officers were resigning left and right, and those who were eligible retired much sooner than they had initially anticipated. Although America is still recovering from this historic era, messages like LoBiano's played a part in keeping everything together.
LoBianco also recognized the importance of having and supporting police and that defunding them is absolutely absurd.
“The people should be reformed to learn respect for authority, law enforcement, and the laws,” he said.
In our previous interview back in 2020, LoBianco offered LEOs a supporting statement - which still rings true today. “I care about the United States of America and how to heal this wound. Hang in there, I know it’s extremely difficult when the authority won’t let you do your job, just hang in there,” he said.
