Trump-Era Recruitment Push Delivers Historic Expansion of ICE

WASHINGTON, DC – In early January, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced via a press release that the outcome of their “unprecedented nationwide recruitment campaign” has rendered unexpected levels of success for the agency’s recruitment goals, seeing a 120 percent increase in officers and agents.

On January 3rd, ICE issued a press release announcing the massive success their recruitment campaign throughout 2025 has accomplished, noting how the agency has doubled its personnel in a single calendar year under the current administration. Securing reportedly over 220,000 applicants via the agency’s multipronged recruitment efforts, ICE went from approximately 10,000 officers and agents to 22,000 by the end of 2025.

“After receiving more than 220,000 applications from patriotic Americans to join ICE, the agency blew past its original hiring target of 10,000 new officers and agents within a year,” the press release reads, adding, “In fact, it has more than doubled ICE personnel from 10,000 to 22,000. With these new patriots on the team, ICE will be able to accomplish what many said was impossible and fulfill President Trump’s promise to make America safe again.”

Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a statement in tandem with the agency’s press release, commending President Donald Trump’s efforts in signing “the Big Beautiful Bill” which played a pivotal role in ICE’s recruitment efforts.

“The good news is that thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill that President Trump signed, we have an additional 12,000 ICE officers and agents on the ground across the country,” Secretary McLaughlin stated, adding, “That’s a 120% increase in our workforce. And that’s in just about four months.”

According to ICE, thousands of these recently recruited officers and agents have already been deployed across the country and are actively contributing to the current administration’s immigration enforcement agenda. Applicants were reportedly targeted using “data-driven outreach efforts to recruit qualified, patriotic Americans from across the country,” according to ICE, which the methods utilized apparently proved successful.

While agency officials are clearly ecstatic about the recruitment endeavors of 2025, the agency is still actively seeking qualified applicants to become their next wave of agents and officers.
