Florida Man Claims He Was “Teleported” Into Stolen BMW After 130-MPH Crash

ORMOND BEACH, FL - Well, we suppose you need to give this guy points for creativity, if not for his driving prowess.

According to Fox 13 News, a Florida man who stole a BMW convertible and then crashed it at high speed told Volusia County deputies he was “teleported” into the car.

Calvin Curtis Johnson, 36, was arrested after he was found with blood on his face after a crash on Monday. When deputies asked Johnson how he ended up behind the wheel of the stolen BMW, he told them he had “teleported.”

“Put your hands on my car,” a deputy is heard saying in the footage. “Yes, sir, I teleported,” Johnson replied. “I don’t know how I get in the car,” Johnson said. “They told me, the X-Men, to do it," he said.

According to The New York Post, Johnson continued, “I don’t do that stuff. Someone told me to get in there. Someone’s in my head. Thank you for saving me. I don’t know how I got in there. You saved me from the aliens.”

The incident unfolded at Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach when a man walking his dog made the mistake of leaving his keys inside his car. That was when Johnson, whom witnesses described as “confused,” got into the vehicle.

“He kept asking for a light,” the witness told police. “I thought, ‘how does he have a BMW if he doesn’t even have a lighter for a cigarette?’”

Shortly afterward, the car was seen speeding at over 130 mph before crashing on Old Dixie Highway and Plantation Oaks Boulevard. After the crash, the BMW was engulfed in flames as deputies pulled Johnson from the vehicle.

Firefighters arrived to put out the blaze, while deputies transported Johnson to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was later taken to the county jail, where he was booked on charges of grand theft and driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.
