UPPER MARLBORO, MD- Maryland's sanctuary state policies recently allowed two criminal illegal aliens, including a suspected Tren de Aragua gang member, loose on the streets of Maryland. So instead of immigration authorities being able to take the two into custody inside the safe confines of the Prince George’s County Detention Center, they were forced to pick them up on the streets of Maryland, a news release by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said.
The two illegal alien criminals, Yferson Jose Canamo-Jordan, a 28-year-old Venezuelan national and suspected TdA member, and Felipe Fernando Reymundo, 23, a Guatemalan national, were both arrested by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore during a targeted enforcement operation. Both were arrested during lawful motor vehicle stops in Upper Marlboro, MD.
“Sanctuary policies continue to disregard U.S. immigration law and put communities at risk by releasing illegal aliens prone to criminal activity into our communities,” said ERO Washington Field Office Director Robert Guadian. “By choosing not to honor ICE detainers, county jails give us no option but to conduct more arrests in the community rather than in the safe and controlled environment of a jail. ICE will continue to uphold our nation’s law and hold illegal aliens accountable for unlawfully entering the U.S.”
Canamo-Jordan and Reymundo both have prior criminal charges and are believed to be a risk to the community.
Canamo-Jordan illegally entered the U.S. in August 2022, but was paroled by U.S. Border Patrol under Biden’s flawed catch-and-release policies in place at our border. He was later convicted for driving without a license and more recently was charged with assault.
Reymundo illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location without being admitted, inspected, or paroled. Since 2025, he has been arrested numerous times, including for charges of arson, malicious destruction of property, trespassing, and motor vehicle theft.
Despite sanctuary policies dismissing their criminal charges, both illegals still face justice for violating U.S. immigration law and will remain in ICE custody, pending removal proceedings.
"Despite sanctuary city push back, ICE will continue to uphold federal law and lodge immigration detainers against illegal aliens when probable cause to exist for removal from the United States,” the release said.
