AMHERST, MA - When it comes to communities that are home to the most far-left, whacked-out universities, you’d be hard-pressed to find one any worse than Amherst, Massachusetts. Home to UMass Amherst, Hampshire College, and Amherst College, if you are a parent looking to have your child indoctrinated into the worst of leftism, Amherst is your place.
The latest claim to fame for a town that is the home of ultra-liberal, progressive thought took place during an orientation program at Amherst College, where students were allegedly forced to sit through what was described as a “disgusting” display where people mimicked sex acts on stage and threw condoms “like confetti” to the audience, The New York Post reports.
Footage obtained by the Washington Free Beacon showed a sick display of students pretending to have sexual relations, moaning loudly, and thrusting under blankets during the performance, which takes place every year and which first-year students are “encouraged” to attend.
In one particularly disturbing display, a female student bent over while another pretended to penetrate her from behind. Other displays included people pretending to do drugs and sharing their “high thoughts.”
Some students told the Free Beacon that the program focuses on “queer” and transgender students and on free-sex practices such as polyamory.
One student, Isabella Niemi, a junior, told the Free Beacon that she was so bothered by the “grossly sexual” program that she was desperate to leave.
“I thought about leaving 10 minutes in. I'm not someone who breaks the rules or skips mandatory events, but it was disgusting enough that it almost forced me to leave,” Niemi said.
“There were feedback forms for all the orientation events except the most grossly sexual ones, so I had no opportunity to make my voice heard on the excessive oversexualization,” she continued. “It was almost like they were avoiding feedback, actually, because they didn’t want to be told that this isn’t normal, or useful, or funny.”
That’s right, for $92,400 a year, the sixth highest in the country, you can have your college students subjected to the program titled “Voices of the Class,” which is allegedly scripted with “out of context excerpts from incoming students’ own admission essays,” The Post wrote.
As expected, the college defended the display, claiming it helps promote sexual respect on campus and has done so for years.
“The skits are part of our broader commitment to promoting wellbeing and sexual respect on campus,” said Amanda Vann, Amherst College’s director of health and wellbeing.
“They encourage conversations about topics that can sometimes feel difficult to discuss, from sexual health and communication to harm reduction and self-care. By presenting these subjects in a relatable, engaging format, the skits help students build the skills and awareness needed to care for themselves, support one another, and contribute to a healthy, respectful community.”
Not everyone feels that way, with some claiming the performances go too far.
“I understand that Amherst is trying to remove the taboo behind sex on campus, but this has gone way too far,” said another junior, John Collier.
“The way it’s forced in our faces does the exact opposite.”
Ironically, Amherst College was founded over 200 years ago to prepare young men for the ministry, the Free Beacon reported. The event takes place in what the college calls its “most important building,” Johnson Chapel, which is used for worship services, convocations, senior assemblies, and other important gatherings. Among those whose portraits are displayed in the building are civil rights leaders, poet Emily Dickinson, and President Calvin Coolidge.
The program has been part of the new student orientation at Amherst since 2007. The “script” is written each year by junior and senior students.
‘The final script is reviewed and approved by staff before the performance. Funding for production comes from the Orientation budget; student performers are not paid, and Johnson Chapel serves as the traditional venue. The Office of Student Affairs insists that the program “is not graphic.”
Amherst College seems overly obsessed with sex. Another official event at the college is “Sex in the Dark,” held at the beginning of each school year. It is organized by the Office of Health and Wellbeing Education, and takes place in the darkness.
“Students report being encouraged to speak about uncomfortable sexual topics, such as their sexual orientation, habits, kinks, and fantasies with the ‘sex experts’ in the dark room,” the Free Beacon reported.
According to an event advertisement, “Stay anonymous in this lights-off event while experts answer your deepest, darkest questions about all things sex, relationships, sexual health, and more! No question is too simple—or too outrageous.” As a prize for attending, all students are given glow-in-the-dark condoms.
The college also funds an annual drag show, with the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership funding nine performers last year, including “Stanley Coochie.” The show, which lasted two and a half hours, included “hit songs” like “Vagina” and “Big Ole’ Freak.” Students are encouraged to tip the “performers” if they choose, and can hand cash directly to the “performers” or throw it up on stage. Students are also encouraged at a table to exchange larger bills for ones for “more fun tipping.” We’ll let you use your imagination for that one.
That’s what nearly half a million dollars in tuition, room and board, and fees will get you at Amherst College.
