MIRAMAR, FL - Authorities out of Miramar, Florida, arrested a 26-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred at a gas station within the city, with authorities saying the incident stemmed from some kind of argument between the victim and suspect.
Officials confirmed 26-year-old Jerry Saint Vil was taken into custody during the early morning hours of July 25 following a manhunt in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Mobil gas station located along the 16000 block of Miramar Parkway.
Miramar Police say that at approximately 10 p.m. on July 22, Saint Vil had gotten into some kind of verbal altercation with an employee, later identified as 51-year-old Teofilo De Jesus Vargas Paulino, who was working at the gas station's car wash when things escalated. The victim was reportedly rushed to an area hospital in critical condition shortly thereafter but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Saint Vil, who was also arrested for burglary and trespassing in May, reportedly fled the scene before police arrived, prompting authorities at the time to close down Miramar Parkway in both directions between the 16400 and 17200 blocks in a bid to apprehend the suspect.
On the afternoon of July 24, Miramar Police issued a public bulletin locally and shared it on social media, urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist authorities with apprehending the then-at-large suspect. Roughly twelve hours after Miramar Police posted the public bulletin, authorities confirmed Saint Vil was taken into custody.
Officials have yet to share any specifics on the circumstances of Saint Vil’s arrest nor insight into what information led to his apprehension. Saint Vil is currently facing a charge of first-degree murder. Information regarding his initial court appearance had not been released as of this writing.
