GRANBY, CT- The chairman and secretary of the Granby (CT) school board - both far-left Democrats who claim to fight for the LGBTQIA++ZYZ community have decided to dig in after Law Enforcement Today recently exposed them for making homophobic comments captured on a hot mic before a recent school board meeting.
Board Chair Monica Logan and Board Secretary Liz Barlow were speaking before a school board meeting scheduled to be broadcast on Granby public access. Unbeknownst to the pair, the recording had already commenced. Logan and Barlow proceeded to make what can only be described as homophobic comments about a state representative, Josh Elliott, who is running to be the Democratic candidate for governor this fall.
Somehow, and probably in violation of Connecticut FOIA laws, the portion of the recording in question was deleted, but not before it was captured by Granby residents, along with WFSB-3, which included the recording in one of its newscasts.
Despite the fact that Granby is currently subject to a lawsuit filed on behalf of a female student who was repeatedly harassed, with nothing being done by the Granby schools, Logan and Barlow remain unfazed.
On Wednesday, Kyle Reyes, owner of the largest police news network in the world, and a former Granby resident who still owns property in town, spoke at a school board meeting. Reyes addressed numerous issues that have befallen the “sleepy” town of around 11,000 people located about 10 miles northwest of Hartford.
Before Reyes spoke, another speaker rose to talk about how 60 Granby students who are involved in the theater program were to receive a prestigious award, however the school system refused to provide transportation to the event due to “budget constraints.” That left only eight of the 60 theater students able to attend the ceremony, who relied on parents to drive them.
That struck a chord with Reyes.
“When I was in high school, I was brutally bullied and beat up for being a ‘fat theater kid.’ I suffered from depression and was the target of assaults, gay jokes, racial slurs because of my last name, and non-stop attacks,” Reyes told the meeting. “I was a victim of the very kind of bully that sits here apparently running the Granby School District,” he continued, referring to Logan and Barlow.
“The theater program gave me an opportunity to become someone else,..even if it was just for moments on stage,” Reyes said.
Addressing the irony of the current situation, Reyes reminded the audience about Logan and Barlow’s comments.
“The horrific and homophobic comments by school board members Monidca Logan and Liz Barlow are a direct attack on every student who has ever been bullied or depressed,” Reyes said.
“And for the ‘party of inclusivity’ to then double down and deprive students who aren’t star athletes with opportunities to be recognized for their hard work is a perfect example of why the school district is facing lawsuits over allegedly protecting bullies.”
Within minutes of the meeting ending, Reyes said he became the subject of criticism online from members of the “party of tolerance.” Reyes, who had pledged to donate $1,000 to the Granby theater program on behalf of his company, The 1776 Project, saw Democrat activists online posting that the school district should “refuse” the donation, called Reyes a “hateful conservative” and “White Christian Nationalist” and adding that he has regularly been at Mar-A-Lago and the White House supporting President Trump and his administration.
You see, politics is everything to the so-called “progressive” left, even to the point of refusing a sizable donation to benefit your students, all in the name of politics. It’s sad, really. Imagine having that level of hate in your system that you’re willing to deny students the opportunity to receive a donation to their theater program due to the hate inside your heart (if they have one). As a matter of fact, in the not-apology, Monica Logan somehow managed to turn it into a Trump-bashing tirade, stating that her comments about "cokeback mountain" weren't a gay slur about the gubernatorial hopeful, but rather about the "horrific" HHS Secretary RFK Jr.
Unlike liberals in Granby, Reyes, a proud husband and father of four beautiful daughters, spoke out in defense of the students in Granby who are marginalized by the likes of Logan, Barlow, and their sycophants, putting politics aside and standing up for those who are ignored.
On social media posts, some referred to Reyes as “homophobic” because he’s a Christian. That couldn’t be further from the truth. As a Christian, Reyes was speaking out for students in town who have been bullied and treated as pond scum because, instead of being “star” athletes, they are “theater kids” or a young girl who the school system failed by having her subjected to repeated bullying.
Reyes told Law Enforcement Today that by refusing to apologize, Logan and Barlow are “empowering the very bullies in the community that the school district has been accused of protecting.”
“They’re sending the message to kids that homophobic slurs are acceptable as long as you claim you didn’t mean to offend anyone.
“Monica Logan and Liz Barlow just made a dog whistle to every bullyin the school district. They effectively told them that as long as you frame your homophobic or discriminatory attacks on classmates as a joke, then it doesn’t matter who is offended,” Reyes continued. “Not only will there be no consequences or repercussions, but you don’t even have to apologize–because you’ve done nothing wrong.”
Reyes then related a story about Logan, telling us about a TikTok video that was made by a conservative member of the board who also happened to be Muslim. Logan was apparently “offended” and began a campaign to have the member removed from the board.
“Her reasoning [was that] she was offended by something that wasn’t even about her. Talk about a double standard,” Reyes said.
Reyes presented a hypothetical, asking if a student called a classmate a “haji” in front of a Muslim student and claims they were just “joking,” is it therefore acceptable to make discriminatory comments that offend others as long as you claim to be “misunderstood” or that your comments were “taken out of context.”
“Leadership comes from the top down. Monica and Liz just laughed in the face of every parent whose child has ever been called a ‘flamer’,” Reyes said. “They just gave a proverbial ‘high five’ to every ruthless bully in the school district and added tremendous credibility to the argument that the school district protects and empowers those bullies.
“They just laughed at every child who has ever considered suicide because they’ve been mocked, laughed at, or discriminated against,” Reyes continued. “And what’s just as terrible is the fact that when called out on it, they refuse to acknowledge how horrible or serious the situation is. They’ve proven that they cannot be trusted to make decisions in the best interest of the students, the parents, or even the legal protection of the school–paid for by the taxpayers.”
Reyes said he is asking for the resignation of Logan and Barlow, along with a formal apology to the taxpayers of Granby.
“May God help this school district…may God bless America…and Monica and Liz–bless your hearts.”
