DORAL, FL - A Florida man is facing several serious charges after he allegedly raped and threatened a 28-year-old woman with a screwdriver on Thursday, July 3rd.
The alleged suspect, 41-year-old Daysnel Hernandez allegedly struck the woman in the back of the head with a large rock after she exited her vehicle in a parking lot, Local10 reported.
He then covered her mouth, held a screwdriver to her neck, and dragged her to a secluded area, authorities said.
The victim said Hernandez punched her multiple times as she attempted to break free, and then raped her while armed with a screwdriver, according to the arrest report.
Investigators said the victim begged Hernandez not to kill her while fearing for her life.
Authorities said that the victim suffered multiple lacerations, abrasions, and contusions throughout her body as a result of the horrific incident.
Hernandez fled the scene on foot towards a nearby parking lot. The next day, authorities said he attacked a Doral hotel worker with a knife, according to Local10.
Hernandez is facing a total of five felony charges in connection with both violent incidents. On Friday, July 4th, police said that a housekeeper at the Doral Inn & Suites encountered Hernandez in a room as she was cleaning it.
The arrest report states that he allegedly held a knife and told the woman, "callate que te voy a matar," in Spanish, which translated to English means, "Shut up, or I'll kill you."
Police said he hit the woman multiple times with the knife while grabbing her neck. He was startled by the woman when she started screaming for help, and so he fled in a van.
A coworker went to the room after hearing the victim screaming for help on the radio and "found her bleeding and injured," the arrest report states.
Police said the van Hernandez fled in had the name of a mobile car was business. The license plate reader and past traffic ticket data linked Hernandez to the van.
Police found the van parked in the garage at Hernandez's apartment building, the Avalon Doral complex.
After reading him his Miranda rights, Hernandez later confessed to raping the victim and corroborated her statement, police said.
Hernandez was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without incident.
He is facing a slew of charges including: kidnapping while committing aggravated battery with a weapon; sexual battery with a deadly weapon causing injury; aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; and he is facing one count each of burglary with assault or battery and second-degree attempted murder in an unrelated case.
