Police Say Ohio Mother Used Socks and Diapers to Conceal Abuse

AVONDALE, OH- An Avondale woman who is no threat to receive mom of the year was arrested last week after local police said she intentionally burned her child with hot water, WLWT-5 in Cincinnati reported.

Laneasha Walker, 24, was charged with three separate charges of child endangerment after she allegedly poured hot water on the child on December 12, 2025, causing second-degree burns to ten percent of his body, police said.

Authorities said that the child’s siblings witnessed the act and confirmed to police officers what had happened.

Police said that after burning her child, she used diapers and long socks to hide the burns from being visible to others. She also refused to take the child for medical assistance even after it was obvious the child was injured. She also lied to authorities about taking her son to a doctor for treatment of his burns.

Court documents showed that medical staff at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital found evidence of old and new burn injuries to the child, whose age was not released.

Walker, the mother of four, has lost at least temporary custody of the children as the charges proceed. They have been left in the care of a relative.

Walker is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $25,000 bond, and a grand jury will hear her case on April 7.

If Walker is able to post bond, she has been ordered not to have contact with the injured child.
