FORTH WORTH, TX – A 21-year-old Afghan national welcomed into the United States following the Biden administration’s disastrous exit from Afghanistan was handed down a 35-year sentence after pleading guilty to charges of producing and possessing CSAM.
A press release from the Justice Department released earlier in October announced the imposed sentence of 21-year-old Badshah Sahi, an Afghan national who entered the United States under the Biden administration’s “Operation Allies Welcome” back in September of 2021.
According to officials, Sahi first appeared on law enforcement’s radar back in February of 2025 when he was arrested by the Forney Police Department in Texas on charges of sexual assault of a child. At the time, Sahi was accused of communicating from his residence in Arlington with a 14-year-old in Forney, leading to him picking the minor up from her residence and transporting her to various locations to sexually assault her.
A subsequent search of Sahi’s cellphone revealed more victims tied to his predatory exploits. Authorities reportedly found “numerous images and videos of a prepubescent female child and communication with other minors online,” including one minor victim in Indiana he’d targeted through the online game Roblox. The victim in Indiana was reportedly 10 years old and Sahi had coerced the child into sending him sexually explicit videos.
A 15-year-old victim in San Marcos, Texas, was also identified during the investigation, with authorities saying Sahi had driven to the underage female’s location and recorded himself sexually assaulting her.
Sahi had entered a guilty plea on federal charges of production and possession of CSAM this past April and was given a 35-year sentence on September 29. The imposed federal sentence will run consecutively to any imposed sentence in his ongoing state case out of Texas.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould issued a statement regarding the sentence in the case, saying, “This lengthy sentence sends a resounding message: Child predators will find no safe harbor in the Northern District of Texas. We will find them and ensure they face the full weight of federal prosecution. Our commitment to protecting children is absolute, and we hope this outcome serves as a clear deterrent to anyone contemplating similar crimes.”
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas acting Special Agent in Charge Antwoine Jones also commented on the case, highlighting Sahi’s exploits as a direct result of the Biden administration’s “recklessly” executed effort to import Afghan nationals following the withdrawal from the country in 2021.
“This dangerous child sex offender was recklessly released into the United States without proper vetting during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and went on to prey on innocent children both here in North Texas and online,” SAC Jones stated, adding, “Thankfully, working with our law enforcement partners, we were able to remove him from the local community and ensure he spends the next 35 years behind bars where he won’t be able to harm any more children.”
