POINCIANA, FL - Authorities with the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) said that an assistant principal at a middle school in Florida was arrested after allegedly forcing a student to massage her feet and saying inappropriate things to him.
According to KPTV, 53-year-old Keiva Lark has been charged with lewd/lascivious conduct and lewd offense against a student by an authority figure. The investigation began on April 4th after the head principal of Lake Marion Creek Middle School reported the incident to police.
Deputies said that the 13-year-old student was sent to Lark's office for throwing balls of paper across a classroom during a test. According to two witnesses and the victim, while in the office, Lark told the victim to rub her feet "since he didn't have anything better to do with his hands."
She then allegedly took off her shoes and placed her legs across the boy's lap; the boy did as he was told. Witnesses said they heard Lark scolding the boy for not rubbing her feet "correctly," and she demonstrated on his arm and shoulder how she wanted to be massaged. A co-worker said they heard Lark tell the student to "rub her feet like he loved her."
The witness also said Lark told the student that she was doing this so that he would "know what foreplay is for when he gets a girlfriend." A co-worker said that Lark admitted several days later that she had "crossed the line" during the incident.
The victim told police that Lark had previously referred to him as "Sexy Chocolate" while passing him in the hallway at the school. Lark told detectives this was "only a joke" and that she was trying to "humble" the student. PCSO Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement, "It's completely inappropriate for a 53-year-old woman to act and talk like this to a middle school boy. It's even worse given that this was an assistant principal and her student."
Sheriff Judd said Lark later admitted that her actions were inappropriate, but she denied saying anything inappropriate to the student. Lark has been placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation.
FOX13 reported that Judd said, "She had a 13-year-old child that was at her school rub her feet. Did you hear what I said? That's right. This was a sexual encounter. She didn't think he was massaging them the right way. So, she massaged his arms and shoulders and then made the statement like, this will help teach you foreplay for when you have a girlfriend. That's how evil this conduct was. So, she's in jail."
Polk County Public Schools Superintendent Frederick Heid said that Lark has "no business" being around children anymore. He said, "This is abhorrent behavior for anyone who works among students, especially an administrator. This person no longer has any business being around children. We comment the school principal for immediately reporting this incident, so we could take action and work with the Polk County Sheriff's Office to protect students."
