PHILADELPHIA, PA- Well, at least the Biden/Harris administration has deported at least one illegal alien.
According to a release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an illegal alien wanted for murder in El Salvador has been kicked out of the United States and headed back where he belongs.
The release says that Enforcement and Removal Operations within ICE removed the suspect, Gustavo Adolfo Rivas Munoz, to El Salvador on October 4. He is wanted in that country for aggravated homicide and association with a terrorist organization.
“Thanks to the excellent work of our deportation officers, Gustavo Adolfo Rivas Munoz has been returned to El Salvador to face justice in his home country,” ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Cammilla Wamsley said. These dedicated officers work tirelessly to protect the American people and further our national security mission.”
Rivas Munoz was initially arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol near Hidalgo, Texas, on February 7, 2013, after he unlawfully entered the United States without inspection or parole by an immigration official, the release said.
Rivas Munoz was served with a notice to appear before a DoJ immigration judge on March 9, 2013, and was released on an order of recognizance later that month. On February 1, 2017, an immigration judge in Harlingen, Texas, ordered him removed from the United States to El Salvador in absentia.
On October 4, 2023, the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, convicted Rivas of conspiracy to commit assault and sentenced him to 25 years in prison, followed by five years of probation. The court then suspended 20 years of the prison sentence, and Rivas Munoz was credited with time served.
On August 6, 2024, Rivas was encountered by ERO Baltimore at the Jessup Correctional Institution in Jessup, Maryland, and an immigration detainer was placed with the facility.
ERO Baltimore arrested Rivas on August 22 at Jessup and transferred him to ERO Philadelphia at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, where he was to await immigration proceedings.
Earlier this month, ERO Philadelphia removed Rivas from the United States back to El Salvador and turned him over to Salvadoran authorities, who were seeking him for aggravated homicide and terrorist organization charges.
