Black Lives Matter Leader In Hot Water After Violent Video Surfaces

LAKE COUNTY, IL – An executive director for a local Black Lives Matter (BLM) chapter out of Lake County, Illinois, is under intense scrutiny after surveillance video depicting an October 2025 incident made the rounds online, as the surveillance video reportedly shows the BLM executive director attacking a female staff member.

Earlier in March, a video reportedly depicting a physical altercation between Lake County BLM’s executive director Clyde McLemore and a staffer, Nyesha Hill, that reportedly occurred in late October of 2025 began circulating online after police records were obtained regarding a second incident involving the duo which occurred this past January.

On January 12th, Waukegan Police officers responded to the BLM Resource Center located off of 668 Lenox Avenue in response to a reported physical altercation between McLemore and Hill. According to statements obtained by responding officers, Hill had confronted McLemore in his office, inquiring about her paycheck while alleging McLemore had been inappropriately using funds from the organization.

Per Hill’s statement to police, McLemore had been using organizational funds for “girls” and nights out gambling. When McLemore was questioned by police about the monetary dispute, he told officers that the local BLM chapter “ain’t got no money,” which was why he couldn’t pay Hill for her work.

Both McLemore and Hill confirmed that the confrontation turned physical, with both parties accusing the other of starting the physical aspect of the ordeal. While interviewing the two at the scene, police learned of second physical altercation between the two which occurred last year. While Hill claimed the earlier fight transpired in late November while McLemore believed it occurred in early November, surveillance video obtained by police showcased a timestamp of October 24th, 2025.

According to both parties, the physical altercation captured on surveillance video also pertained to McLemore not paying Hill for her work at the organization. Regarding the January matter, where Hill and McLemore reportedly both had apparent injuries stemming from the incident, police determined there wasn’t sufficient probable cause to arrest either individual due to conflicting statements.

Additionally, Hill reportedly told officers she had zero desire to pursue charges against McLemore over any of the incidents, saying she didn’t “want to see a black man in jail.”

Responding officers reportedly informed both parties not to have contact with each other while instructing the duo on how to obtain an order of protection. In the wake of the January incident, McLemore has since obtained a no contact order.
