COLUMBUS, OH - Body-worn camera video of a shooting incident in the Short North area has been released by the Columbus Division of Police and reportedly shows officers discovering several victims and the genesis of a high-speed chase on June 23rd.
As reported by WBNS-TV, Columbus police were responding to a call of a reported shooting that injured 10 people, two of them teenagers. As the officers arrived at the scene some remained to provide medical assistance to the victims while other units pursued a white Honda Civic, which fled the incident.
According to a Police report, "Columbus Police Officers were dispatched to the 1100 blk of N. High Street on reports of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located 6 victims, all suffering from gunshot wounds, around the area. As officers were securing the scene and tending to victims, they became aware of an additional 4 victims that arrived at local hospitals. A total of 10 gunshot victims were spread out of 3 local hospitals across the city. At this time victims are all expected to survive."
The incident footage began at approximately 2:26 a.m. with gunshots audible on several officers' bodyworn cameras. Two of the officers can be heard discussing whether the sound was gunshots or fireworks with one responding authoritatively, "No, that was a gun."
Multiple officers can be seen following the sound of gunfire in cruisers and on foot as witnesses direct them toward the white Honda. Officers are then seen attempting to stop the vehicle, driver, and passenger. The officers can be heard ordering the suspects to put their hands outside the vehicle's windows according to WBNS, with the passenger telling police, "I'm shot," repeatedly before the driver speeds off, launching the pursuit.
Columbus Police Detectives posted images of the white Honda Civic to X, requesting public assistance locating it.
In the chaos that unfolded, officers were seen searching for victims and helping them with bystanders flagging the officers down toward victims.
Columbus Division of Police Chief Elaine R. Bryant published a statement to X, saying in part, "The shooting that took place early this morning in the Short North that injured 10 individuals, including two young men under the age of 18, is deeply concerning and completely unacceptable. Whether it was the recent East 5th Avenue and Summit Street incident or last week's Avalon Dance Club shooting our mission has remained the same. We will continue to aggressively address and combat gun violence in our city."

Three cruisers pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 670. By 2:31 a.m., the officers are heard on the footage expressing frustration that they lost sight of the suspect vehicle. However, later the same day, Deangelo Fuller, 19, surrendered to police and confessed to driving the Honda.
