BOISE, ID - A woman was killed during the early morning hours on Sunday, August 30, after someone reportedly fired multiple gunshots into a vacation home in Boise's West Branch neighborhood.
Officers and Boise Fire crews responded just before 6:00 a.m. to a report of a shooting at a home on West Clement Road, KTVB reported. Upon arriving on scene, officers found a woman who had been shot on the front porch of the home. A large number of people were inside the home when police arrived.
The area was secured, and the home was evacuated so officers could clear the residence and interview witnesses. Boise Fire Department crews and Ada County Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the woman died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators said evidence indicates a party was taking place when an unidentified suspect drove by in a sedan and fired multiple shots at the home before leaving the area. Police said they do not believe that the victim was the intended target, but they do think the shooter was "likely targeting the party and one or more attendees," according to Idaho Statesman.
The home was being used as a short-term vacation rental at the time of the shooting, police said. Detectives with the Boise Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit are searching the surrounding neighborhood for surveillance footage, witnesses and other information as they continue to investigate.
Police are asking anyone who was at the home before or during the shooting and left prior to officers' arrival to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790. "Our investigators are currently following up on all available leads and incoming tips," police said. The victim's identity will be released by the Ada County coroner pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
