BOSTON, MA - Authorities have confirmed that on Tuesday night, July 16th, a Boston police officer was struck by a vehicle while on duty in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.

According to NBC Boston, officers responded to Stanton Street around 11:30 p.m. for a call of four men trespassing in a church and day care center's parking lot. Authorities said that at least two of the men were armed with guns. Upon arriving on scene, officers said that two of the men jumped a fence toward Norfolk Street, while a third person got in a car and allegedly began driving at the officers at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the vehicle struck one of the officers, forcing him onto the hood of the car before he rolled off the side as the vehicle sped away, fleeing the area. Authorities said that the officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said that they found 26-year-old Robert Barret Scott near St. Matthew's Church wearing clothes that matched the description of the person with weapon. He was taken into custody without incident. However, no weapon was found. He has been charged with trespassing and his bail was set at $200.

One of the men, identified as 21-year-old Markeith Walton, was arrested after police chased him along Norfolk Street. He was taken into custody at Kingdom Builder's Worship Center. Upon arrest, police found a gun in his pocket. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He faces trespassing charges as well as carrying a firearm without a license. He is being held without bail with a pending court date of July 25th.

Investigators said that they found three loaded weapons and a large capacity magazine between a car that remained in the parking lot and the woods where the two men jumped the fence. As of this writing, the man who allegedly struck the officer with the vehicle and the other man who ran into the woods have not been arrested.

In separate incident during the evening hours on Thursday, July 18th, a Boston police officer was injured when he was hit by the driver of a stolen vehicle in the Jamaica Plain area.

According to CBS News, the driver of the vehicle was shot by the officer and remains in critical condition at the hospital. The officer was also transported to a Boston area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The officer, who has not been identified, remains in stable condition.

Police Commissioner Michael Cox said that officers were called to the Forrest Hills MBTA station at around 7:45 p.m. to assist in the recovery of a stolen vehicle. Cox added, "As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect operating the motor vehicle struck the officer. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the operator of the motor vehicle."

Boston police said traffic was blocked on Hyde Park Avenue between Ukraine Way and Aborway due to police activity. Cox said the roads were expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation took place. This incident is under investigation by Boston Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
