CA Deputy surrounded by angry mob who vandalized his vehicle - sheriff responds with 56 arrests

ADELANTO, CA— On May 11th, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy happened across a massive street takeover while en route to a service call in Adelanto, CA. When the lone Deputy attempted to end the obstruction and disburse the loitering crowds, a lawless mob surrounded his patrol vehicle and openly attacked it, vandalizing it.

Sheriff's officials told VVNG, “The spectators damaged the windshield and body panels of the patrol vehicle. Investigators identified the participants of the street takeover in Highland and discovered they were related to car clubs in the High Desert area.”

The outlet reported that investigators found similar behavior in street takeovers and so-called sideshows performed with stolen vehicles on public streets. “The participants openly displayed firearms as they performed a sideshow on private property in Adelanto. As a result of the investigation, several search warrants were served in the city of Victorville. The search warrants yielded stolen firearms and a stolen Dodge Hellcat."

In response, Sheriff Shannon Discuss and deputies of San Bernardino County led Operation Consequences on Saturday, describing it as a "suppression operation," which led to the arrest of 37 adults and 19 juveniles at an abandoned property. “The High Desert car clubs entered the private property and performed sideshow maneuvers,” deputies explained to KTLA. “Investigators detained participants and spectators as they fled from the location.”

On May 28th he announced that the operation would intensify in a post to X saying, "San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department intensifies Operation Consequences, seizes firearms in Ontario, Fontana and Rialto. @sbcountysheriff@CityofOntario@CityofFontanaCA and
@CityofRialto working together to keep this country a great place to live, work and play!
@OntarioPD @RialtoPolice."

“This type of recklessness won’t be tolerated in San Bernardino County. Arrests will be assured, and cars will be impounded if these street takeovers continue.”

He added in a subsequent post to X, "37 adults, 19 juveniles arrested after deputies bust car club ‘sideshow’ in Southern California Operation Consequences taking lawlessness to task. Well done to all of our deputies working hard to keep us safe."

According to Hoodline citing arrest reports, the arrests made between May 18th and 24th resulted in 11 felony charges, and the seizure of "illegal narcotics were recovered, and 10 firearms were seized, three of which were ghost guns."

In addition, a later arrest report revealed, "The adults were taken to the High Desert Detention Center and, after being processed, were cited and released from the facility. The juveniles were taken to the Victorville City Sheriff’s Station and issued a citation and then released to their families. Additionally, 23 vehicles were towed, and a stolen Chevrolet Camaro was located."
