WASHINGTON, DC - One of the charter members of the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) club is being slammed even by Democrats as allegations of sexual assault and harassment from former female staffers explode.
The New York Post reports that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), one of several Democrats seeking to replace outgoing California governor Gavin Newsom, is seeing his chances drop faster than Bill Clinton’s trousers in the Oval Office as at least four women have claimed Swalwell engaged in various forms of sexual hijinks, including one who alleges she was sexually assaulted by Swalwell while drunk in April 2024. Oh, by the way, Swalwell is married.
Democrats, from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) to Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) have called upon Swalwell to drop out of the gubernatorial race as three additional women have made allegations against Swalwell about sexual misconduct, ranging from inappropriate messages to unwanted contact. All three claim they have documented hospital visits and messages sent to friends and family about the incidents.
Swalwell is a longtime critic of President Donald Trump and has repeated false claims that Trump colluded with Russia to sway the 2016 election in his favor. He has also led numerous calls to impeach the president, which failed both times they were previously tried and will likely not succeed in subsequent attempts. He has a terminal case of TDS.
In the most recent explosive allegations, one former staffer claims that in 2019 she woke up next to Swalwell in a New York City hotel room after a heavy night of drinking and didn’t have any specific recollection of what happened, but she said it felt like she and Swalwell had sex. The Post said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has opened a criminal investigation into the woman’s rape claim.
“I was pushing him off me, saying no,” she told CNN. “He didn’t stop.”
Bragg’s office issued a statement Saturday urging anyone with knowledge of the allegations against Swalwell to contact its Special Victims Division.
“Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators, and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner,” officials said.
Swalwell is denying the allegations and has vowed to remain in the governor’s race. He did, however, admit to “indiscretions” in a Friday social media post and said he would be stepping away from the campaign.
Politico reported that several top advisors to Swalwell’s campaign have abandoned his campaign, while staffers from his congressional office and campaign released an unsigned statement expressing support for the victims who have come forward, adding that “any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell.”
“We stand with our former colleague, and the other women who have come forward,” the statement reads. “We believe you should stand with them, too. The behavior detailed in these reports is abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office, and betrays the trust of all Californians.”
Swalwell, who during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings said we should “believe all women” amid unsubstantiated and far-fetched claims about Kavanaugh, is singing a different tune this time, calling the four allegations “flat false.”
“They are absolutely false,” Swalwell said in a video posted to social media on Friday. “They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything I have.”
Despite vowing to maintain his campaign, his fundraising via ActBlue was suspended on Friday. Politico said a spokesperson for the Democratic fundraising platform confirmed that the campaign, not the website, deactivated the page and referred questions to Swalwell’s campaign. Former supporters have been deserting Swalwell’s campaign like rats fleeing the Titanic, with the California Labor Federation, the SEIU of California, and a California coalition of teachers’ unions all withdrawing support. Swalwell is locked in a fight to be one of two candidates vying to be on the ballot when California chooses a governor to replace greasy-haired Gavin Newsom, who cannot run due to term limits. While Swalwell is the leading Democrat, former representative and mashed potato chucker Katie Porter is right behind. However, two Republicans, political novice Steve Hilton and Sheriff Chad Bianco, currently lead the race overall. Due to California’s primary system, it is quite possible that voters will have a choice between only the two Republicans. Democrats have been pushing for either Swalwell or Porter to drop out to consolidate voters behind one or the other. The sudden allegations against Swalwell, even if true, are suspicious in their timing. Porter has called on Swalwell to end his campaign and also resign from Congress. Meanwhile, some DC lawmakers are pushing to expel not only Swalwell, but also Texas Rep. Tony Gonzalez, a Republican, who is facing similar allegations. Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) said both should be kicked out of Congress. “These allegations are despicable, and they demean the integrity of Congress. These things are just completely unacceptable,” Donalds told host Kristen Welker. “As far as I’m concerned, both gentlemen need to go home.” Later during the same program, Welker pressed Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who said she too would vote to expel both Swalwell and Gonzalez. “I think that this is very important that we believe women and that we show people across the Capitol and across the country that we will not accept this kind of behavior,” Jayapal said. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM) said she would also vote to expel both lawmakers if they didn’t resign first. “Reps. Gonzalez and Swalwell are not fit to serve. They must resign. If they do not, I will vote to expel them,” she wrote in a social media post. Republican Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) also called on both to resign, writing that, “If not, Congress should move to expel…them upon our return this week." Michael Trujillo, a Los Angeles-based political strategist, slammed Swalwell, telling The Post that while he’d heard rumors of improper relationships between Swalwell and his staff going back nine years, he was completely caught off guard by the rape allegations. “Narcissistic sociopaths think they’re good guys. So no matter what Eric Swalwell has been accused of, he still thinks he’s a good person,” Trujillo said. Some have accused Swalwell of being a carpetbagger who doesn’t even live in California. Indeed, for someone who is married with three children, Swalwell’s only apparent residence is a room in Livermore, California. Meanwhile, he has a home in Washington, D.C. valued between $1 million and $5 million, according to financial disclosures. Karma. Gotta love it. Nobody deserves it more than condescending scum Eric Swalwell.
