California Husband Allegedly Claimed ICE Took His Missing Wife. Then Investigators Found Her Body

SACRAMENTO, CA – A 28-year-old man was arrested by Sacramento County deputies earlier in October on charges related to the alleged murder of his 30-year-old wife, with officials saying the accused husband attempted to mislead investigators by falsely claiming his wife was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after she was reported missing.

According to a press release issued by ICE earlier in October, 28-year-old Gurinder Gill was arrested on October 14 on suspicion of murder for the death of his wife, 30-year-old Jasmine Gill.

Local reporting out of Sacramento noted that Jasmine’s cousin had reported her missing on October 4, telling authorities she’d not been seen since September 30. When local law enforcement questioned Gurinder during the investigation into his wife’s reported disappearance, he’d allegedly claimed she was apprehended by ICE agents while checking the mail days earlier.

The falsely claimed ICE apprehension allegedly made by Gurinder bears a heavy resemblance to the trend adopted by the political left and progressives who’ve framed ICE operations as akin to ‘abductions’ and ‘disappearing’ people.

When the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office contacted ICE about the alleged apprehension, immigration officials informed them that no such enforcement operation took place at the suspect’s residence. Furthermore, a body that was discovered 70 miles away from the suspect’s residence three days before Gurinder’s wife was reported missing would eventually be determined to be Jasmine.

Jasmine’s remains, which were reportedly burned, were discovered in El Dorado County on October 1. A combination of jewelry found on the decedent, alongside examined dental records, confirmed the deceased’s identity. Investigators also learned Gurinder and his wife were in the process of getting divorced and were also embroiled in a custody battle over their 8-month-old child.

Gurinder was taken into custody on October 14 and is being held in the Sacramento County Jail without bond.

ICE Assistant Director of Communications Micah Bock issued a statement regarding the case, saying, “Once again, ICE is facing baseless slanders and attacks, designed to smear our agents. The reality is that the brave men and women of ICE go out every day to ensure criminal illegal aliens and murderers do not walk our streets freely, despite a massive increase in threats to their personal safety.”
