ANAHEIM, CA - A man in his thirties allegedly killed his wife’s lover in a fit of rage after coming home from work early and finding the man in his underwear in their bed, alongside their two young children.
The alleged suspect, 34-year-old Ismael Pinedalopez, is accused of fatally stabbing 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia “multiple times” with a pocketknife in the bedroom of his home on October 24, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the New York Post reported.
The couple’s children, a two-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son, were in the bed during the fatal attack, prosecutors said. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. Pinedalopez’s wife and kids were not harmed. “Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.
Pinedalopez was arrested at the scene and charged with one felony count of murder and a felony enhancement for personal use of a weapon. He was arraigned on Tuesday, October 27. If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 26 years to life in prison.
This is not the first case of suspected infidelity turning deadly in the state of California this year. Former Glendale firefighter Andrew Jimenez allegedly killed his wife, Mayra Lopez Jimenez, with an ax at their North Hollywood home in January after he suspected she was cheating on him.
Jimenez’s lawyer claimed investigators discovered a “diary” that showed she had been unfaithful. “Our office is currently in contact with law enforcement regarding a diary of the decedent, apparently read moments before the homicide, that verified infidelity by the decedent,” attorney Jose Romero previously said.
Investigators believe Lopez Jimenez was struck repeatedly with the ax. Jimenez was charged with one count of murder with an allegation of using an ax as a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces up to 26 years to life in prison.
