California ‘American Idol’ Executive and Husband Gunned Down in Suspected Burglary

LOS ANGELES, CA— Robin Kaye, a top ‘American Idol’ Executive, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both aged 70, reportedly sought out a private security solution after stating they “felt threatened by somebody,” before they were both murdered in a suspected burglary at their multi-million dollar home in the Encino neighborhood of LA.

Los Angeles Police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian on Tuesday, one day after their bodies were discovered in a welfare check demanded by friends.

Homicide Detectives with the LAPD told NBC4 Los Angeles that they believe the couple were shot and killed on July 10th, approximately when a neighbor called 911 and reported a man appearing to climb the wall around the victims’ home.

Officers from the LAPD West Division responded, but finding no signs of forced entry and unable to access the property cleared the call after obtaining a description of the alleged intruder from the reporting neighbor.

An LAPD aerial unit later performed a flyover of the residence and reported the area clear as well.

On Monday, at the insistence of friends of Kaye and Deluca, officers performed a welfare check and observed a trail of blood leading to the front of the home, forced entry via a glass door, and found the couple dead in their home. Both were reportedly shot in the upper abdomen.

Kaye was found in the bathroom, and Deluca was in the home's pantry.

Kris Herzog, owner of the Bodyguard Group of Beverly Hills, revealed that Kaye had contacted the firm, citing fears for her safety. “She felt threatened by somebody because of somebody around their home or around their neighborhood who felt suspicious,” Herzog said per NBC Los Angeles.

The outlet noted that Kaye and Deluca did not hire the security company.

According to Detectives, they believe Boordarian was burglarizing the home for about thirty minutes when the victims returned home and encountered him.

"We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing," an "American Idol" spokesman told NBC Los Angeles.

"Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time."
