CT Democrats Refuse to Remove Enfield Committee Member Over Inflammatory Charlie Kirk Post

ENFIELD, CT — Since the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah last week, we have seen numerous incidents where unhinged leftists have celebrated his death. This has occurred nationwide, in both large cities and small communities.

Enfield, Connecticut, is a town of approximately 42,000 people located 15 miles north of the capital city of Hartford. While Connecticut is a blue state, Enfield has been run by Republicans for much of the past 20 years. Republicans currently control the town council and the board of education. If the following is representative of Enfield Democrats, that may continue.

After Charlie Kirk’s death last week, a man who goes by the name of Detric Gonzalez posted the following on Facebook inside the “Enfield, CT Really ‘Open’ Forum.”

“I’ll let everyone on my friend list know this now; if you’re expecting me to feel bad that the head of a white supremacist family was shot dead as he was denigrating trans and black people, forget i [sic] exist. I don’t f*ck with nazi simps. Like it’s disgusting to shame people enjoying the fact that am [sic] oppressive mouth piece [sic] got shut permanently.”

The content of the post is bad enough, but what is really disturbing about this post is that this “gentleman” is a member of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee. That is correct…Mr. Gonzalez is a member of the committee that decides who will represent the Democrats as candidates for municipal elections. Yet, the Enfield Democratic Town Committee (EDTC) doesn’t appear at all concerned by Gonzalez’s violent rhetoric. Oh, they say they “condemn” such language, but actions speak louder than words. Elected Democratic officials? Crickets.

After the post was put up on Facebook, the EDTC was contacted by several people, including Law Enforcement Today, to see if any action was being taken against Gonzalez by the committee. Our first several emails went unanswered. Finally, we received an email telling us to refer to their post on Facebook, a screenshot of which is shown below. It reads in part:

“Yesterday, one of our members made a personal statement on their private Facebook page, which was then copied by others and shared widely on forums. This member is now receiving threats.

“This statement was not made in an official capacity and in no way reflects the positions and sentiments of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee. The Enfield Democratic Town Committee stands firmly against devaluing any human life, and this statement does not reflect our values or our mission. We want to be clear that such views have no place in our organization. We call for all acts and threats of violence in our community to end.”

The Facebook post also referenced a joint statement from Enfield Mayor Ken Nelson, a Republican, and Town Council Minority Leader John Santanella, in which they condemned the rising political violence across the country. The last paragraph of the joint statement read:

“[W]e ask that all of you, regardless of party or position, treat each other with respect.”

Respect. How does calling Charlie Kirk a “white supremacist” (he wasn’t) and Gonzalez saying he doesn’t “f*ck with nazi simps” comport with treating “each other with respect?”

Law Enforcement Today spoke to Eric Pease, an Enfield resident, who was appalled by Gonzalez’s Facebook post. He told us that he emailed Ian Graves (Chairman of the EDTC) three times and never received a response.

Pease told Graves that he was “deep[ly] concerned” about the post published by Gonzalez.

“The post in question–which I have attached for your review–appears to celebrate and condone the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. Such rhetoric is not only profoundly inappropriate, but it also reflects poorly on the Enfield Democratic Town Committee as a whole,” he wrote.

Pease asked for “the removal or resignation of Mr. Gonzalez from the Committee, effective immediately.”

Pease stated that after the chairman of the EDTC ignored his three emails, he posted on four Facebook forums/groups, and he has received positive feedback that Gonzalez needs to resign.

“All I want is accountability and communication,” Pease told Law Enforcement Today. The Dem chairman and the Dem party in Enfield have not once addressed my concerns in any way, shape, or form. These people represent me, they represent us, and they need to start acting that way.

“Although everyone has a right to their opinions, they need to take ownership for publicizing those opinions, especially when you are a member of a board, committee, or council,” he said.

To make matters worse, on Monday, September 15, Gonzalez appeared at the Enfield Town Council meeting. During public communications, Gonzalez doubled down on his divisive rhetoric. He began talking about the “great replacement theory” being a “false white nationalist conspiracy theory,” then rambled about Nazis, “a lot of far-right supremacy groups,” and then went on a rambling diatribe about Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) and attributed statements allegedly made by “your boy Charlie Kirk.” What Gonzalez was doing was channeling Crockett’s statements. Crockett is part of the so-called “squad” and is one of the most unhinged members. Video of the town council comments can be found below:

The statement made by Charlie Kirk that he apparently took issue with was, according to The Grio:

“Jasmine Crockett is just some circus act in that entire operation,” said Kirk, adding, “You shouldn’t take what she says seriously. It’s just a joke. What she represents is very serious, which is the continued attempt to eliminate the white population in this country.”

Kirk was discussing the redistricting fight in Texas. Also, some leading Democrats have alluded to the fact that in the not-so-distant future, whites in the United States will be in the minority, which was celebrated by former President Joe Biden, among others.

He then went into a series of comments he received from someone on (we’re assuming) Facebook, with a lot of meaningless back-and-forth. He said he had “the right” to express joy over “a white supremacist taking a bullet to the throat.”

Pease took issue with Gonzalez’s statement before the town council.

‘I was appalled at his statement at the meeting on Monday, essentially admitting he found joy in Charlie’s death,” Pease told us.

During council member comments, not one Democrat spoke out against Gonzalez’s inflammatory rhetoric, either those on Facebook or during his public remarks at the Enfield Town Council meeting. Not one. In fact, no Democrat has publicly condemned Gonzalez’s Facebook post. It’s almost as if the EDTC and elected Democrats in Enfield support Gonzalez’s inflammatory and racist comments.

Silence is complicity.
