Connecticut Mayor Bans City Travel on Airline That Helped Feds Deport Illegals

NEW HAVEN, CT- When the Biden administration was using airlines to fly illegal aliens nationwide on the taxpayers’ dime, Democrats like New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker had no problem with it.

After all, in the limited brain of those like Elicker, illegal aliens represented future Democrat voters they could parlay into votes, in his case for an expected run for higher office. 

After Avelo Airlines, which put the crime-ridden cesspool of New Haven on the map when it started flying scheduled flights out of Tweed-New Haven Airport, reached an agreement with the federal government to ship those illegals back to where they came from, unhinged loons like Elicker lost what was left of their minds.

Now, the city is banning municipal employees from flying on Avelo. 

NBC Connecticut reports that on June 28, the City of New Haven, home to woke Yale University, sent a memo to city employees “prohibiting the use of public funds for any travel on Avelo Airlines. The memo continues that “no city financial resources may be used to promote, market, or partner with Avelo Airlines in any capacity.” 

Elicker claims the memo is intended to “align our values with our taxpayer dollars.”

The “values” embraced by Elicker and most Connecticut Democrats include the belief that biological males should be allowed in female bathrooms and locker rooms and to play women’s sports, that aborting babies up to the moment of birth is fine, and that the national security of the United States is subservient to their political interests. 

In justifying the city’s policy, Elicker said, “The reality is the overwhelming majority of people in our community, documented or undocumented, are doing good things in our community.” 

Legal and illegal. Fixed it for you. 

When Avelo announced the deal with the federal government in May, Elicker tried to strong-arm the airline to change their mind. 

“I called the CEO of Avelo and asked to stop doing that type of activity, to think twice about it because he clearly would impact the Avelo brand and the local market, and unfortunately, they did not change course.” 

Before the announcement, Avelo started flying out of Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT., a larger airport with longer runways and much better infrastructure.

Tweed-New Haven is susceptible to fog, and it isn’t uncommon for flights to have to divert to Bradley as a result.

As far as Avelo is concerned, and kudos to them, Elicker and the City of New Haven can stuff it.

A spokesperson for Avelo, Courtney Goff, provided the following statement:

“It is unfortunate the City of New Haven has chosen to direct its employees to not fly Avelo for official travel, due to Avelo’s business decision to operate flights on behalf of the federal government. We hope in the future the City will change its mind. In the meantime, Avelo will continue to provide affordable, convenient, and reliable air service to its millions of Customers in Connecticut and throughout the country.” 

The question on everyone’s mind should be this: Why are City of New Haven employees jet-setting around the country on the taxpayers’ dime in the first place? Inquiring minds want to know. 

Elicker and the City of New Haven, vying to be the murder capital of Connecticut, were not alone in virtue signaling about Avelo.

A nonprofit decided to cut off its nose to spite its face, cutting ties with Avelo, which had been a sponsor of the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race for three years, claiming “public outcry” and “disappointment” among board members triggered the decision. 

How stunning! How brave! 

The only “public outcry” was among TDS-suffering leftist liberals and basement-dwelling soy boys taking time off from their video games and Hot Pockets. Oh, and probably some 60s and 70s hippie leftovers desperate to remain relevant.  

In response to liberals losing their collective minds over Avelo’s partnership with the federal government, many conservatives have vowed to start flying Avelo, albeit out of safe locations such as Windsor Locks and not from a crime-addled sewer like New Haven. 

It is laughable to watch dimwits like Elicker and other liberals put criminal illegal aliens ahead of their own citizens. It’s also ridiculous to watch Elicker give a middle finger to a company that tried to give New Haven some relevance. The self-immolation is joyous to watch.
