For those unfortunate enough to live in the State of Connecticut, we are represented in Washington by a crew of unhinged, unaccountable liberals, some worse than others. For example, the 3rd Congressional District is represented by ancient fossil and Broomhilda look-alike Rosa DeLauro.
We have Senator Stolen Valor Dick Blumenthal, a close relative of Skeletor. Then, there is Sen. Chris Murphy, a two-term camera hog who is second only to Blumenthal in being addicted to the red light of television cameras. As the saying goes, the most dangerous place is between a television camera and Blumental or Murphy.
We had the unfortunate occasion to watch the debate on WTNH-8 between Murphy and his Republican opponent, Matthew Corey. We did it, so you don’t have to. What we witnessed was a master class in Democrat gaslighting, with Murphy repeating every made-up hoax about Donald Trump and the Republicans and even dropping a whopper about his own record of being anti-SRO in schools.
To his credit, Murphy didn’t attempt to distance himself from Joe Biden's or Kamala Harris's policies. In fact, Murphy said he supported every policy enacted by the Biden/Harris administration. At least he was honest…about that.
For example, Murphy said he supported the Harris plan to give every first-time buyer $25,000 towards the down payment on a home. Murphy failed to address the second part of the question, which was what impact he believed such a scheme would have on housing prices.
This lack of foresight is concerning. Anyone with a couple of working brain cells knows that if you give people $25,000 to put down on a home, the price will go up by a similar amount. This could potentially exacerbate the already high housing prices in Connecticut, making it even more difficult for the average resident to afford a home.
Murphy was asked about the violent Venezuelan gangs that have infiltrated our country due to the Biden/Harris open border. Murphy said, “not to believe the ‘rhetoric’ from the right,” and then spoke about the so-called “bipartisan” border bill he negotiated, which failed.
Murphy said that the bill contained “strong” language that would have gotten the border situation under control but missed a few key points. As Law Enforcement Today previously reported, the “border control” bill would have allowed 5,000 illegal aliens per day into the country–1.825 million per year before the president could shut it down.
The bill would have codified catch and release inside the US, forced American taxpayers to pay the attorney bills for any illegal fighting deportation, would have codified the issuance of work permits to all illegal aliens, and a lot more. In other words, the bill was a piece of garbage that even some Democrats voted against.
Murphy, of course, blamed President Trump for the bill's failure.
Meanwhile, there are over 100,000 undocumented illegal aliens in Connecticut. While Murphy blathered about the importance of having “strong immigrant communities,” Corey emphasized that he was not discussing legal immigration. He said that, like Trump, he supports deporting the most heinous criminals first and then going through and examining the other illegals.
He also noted that with sanctuary cities in Connecticut, such as New Haven, cooperation between ICE and local police departments in those cities is non-existent. Corey also noted an illegal alien was convicted of killing 25-year-old Casey Chadwick in Norwich in 2015. Illegal aliens have committed several high-profile murders in the past year or so nationwide.
Throughout the debate, Murphy told several lies, but one of the most egregious was when he was asked about his proposal to remove School Resource Officers (SROs) after the George Floyd incident. Murphy claimed he hadn’t 'removed SROs from schools' and that it was 'up to individual school districts.' As Maury Povich would say, that was a lie.
Murphy might want to check press releases from his own office. This kind of dishonesty directly affects the public's understanding of the issues at hand, but is what is to be expected from Murphy.
A press release from Murphy’s office dated July 30, 2020, reads the following:
“Sen. Chris Murphy, along with three other lawmakers, introduced a bill that would pave the way to remove school resource officers and replace them with a counseling system.
‘’Tens of thousands of kids are arrested at school every single year, and a disproportionate number of these students are Black and latino,’ Murphy said.
“There are more than 10,000 SROS currently serving in schools across the country, including in Connecticut. Their goal is to protect children.
“The new push, however, argues that their presence has the opposite effect.”
Along with Murphy, far-left progressive Democrats such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) co-sponsored the “Counseling Not Criminalization in Schools Act.”
In the Act, Murphy was quoted as saying:
“Police shouldn’t be in schools. There are plenty of better ways to ensure that our schools are safe places to learn.”
In other words, Murphy lied his ass off. He continued to lie when he added that “crime is coming down” and that “urban gun violence is down by 25%.” Again, Murphy is lying. He clearly relied on the FBI’s National Information Based Reporting System (NIBRS), which has been proven not to be a reliable barometer of crime rates. In fact, the FBI recently revised its numbers up for 2022 due to incomplete information.
Further, a more accurate barometer of crime rates–the National Crime Victimization Survey–showed crime has actually been increasing. In 2022, for example, only 40 percent of violent crimes were reported to law enforcement. Since the FBI relies on police reports to compile data, they are missing 60% of the actual crimes. But Murphy is just following in the footsteps of Kamala Harris, who has also used the bogus FBI numbers to claim crime is down when, in fact, it is not. Law Enforcement Today recently did a deep dive on the subject.
Corey called Murphy out for his lies about crime rates and slammed him for his support of policies that are soft on crime and are leading to more attacks on police officers. Moreover, he said Murphy is supported by the Working Families Party, which supports defunding the police.
Murphy took several other radical positions, including eliminating the Senate filibuster and refusing to say that men shouldn’t play women’s sports. Again, Murphy deflected, saying it's up to each individual school or community. However, there is legislation in place, and the Biden administration has tried to modify Title IX to cover transgender individuals.
Murphy claimed it is “in the Republican platform” to enact a national abortion ban, which is a lie and which is a position that Donald Trump has repeatedly said he does not support. He said he supports the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs where those questions are left up to the individual states, as they should be.
Murphy supports a Palestinian state and, bought into Hamas propaganda about civilian deaths in Gaza and called for a ceasefire. He said the US needs to help Palestinians “find a home.”
Murphy lied about jobs “created” by Biden, disregarding the fact that in 2020, many jobs were lost due to the COVID pandemic, and most of those jobs Biden “created” were merely companies rehiring after the pandemic ended. Murphy claimed the economy was “booming” and ignored the fact that companies were shutting down and laying off employees.
Murphy also buys into Harris’s economic theory that companies are “price gouging” and believes it is up to the government to intervene. Funny how there wasn’t any “price gouging” between 2017 and 2021.
Taking his cues from MSNBC, where he is a frequent guest, Murphy parroted the line about Trump saying he would become “a dictator” on day one of his second term, ignoring the fact that Trump was specifically talking about the border and the oil industry, where he would reverse Biden administration policies that opened the border and crippled the oil industry. Facts matter, and Murphy ignores them like the good Marxist he is.
He also gaslighted Trump’s comment about “the enemy within,” a phrase that was initially used by President Abraham Lincoln and referred to internal forces that would do our country harm. The Biden-Harris administration, with complicit senators like Murphy, has allowed the enemy inside the gates, and that was what President Trump was referring to.
Murphy is a big government zealot who believes the government needs to be involved in every facet of our lives in one way or another—price fixing, restrictions on social media, etc.
Connecticut hasn’t elected a Republican senator in 40 years, and despite the bellyaching from residents about the high costs of living in the state, they keep voting in the same circus clowns every two, four, or six years. If any senator deserves to be thrown out on their ass, it’s Murphy, who rumor has it doesn’t even own a residence in the state. But Connecticut voters are insane. Doing the same thing time and again, yet expecting different results.
