Election interference? Democratic senator says 'any action to stop Trump' should be encouraged

It’s amusing to hear Democrats bloviate about “election interference” while claiming that former President Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy.” Yet, who are the ones who are attempting to remove the frontrunner from the opposition party from the opportunity to run against them? That’s right–Democrats.

Unless someone has been sleeping for the past few days, everyone is well aware that four radical members of the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump is ineligible to appear on that state’s primary ballot under some obscure reference to the 14th Amendment. That amendment, enacted after the Civil War to prevent members of the Confederacy from seeking public office, says that anyone who participated in an insurrection against the United States is ineligible for public office.

In a stretch of epic proportions, the Colorado justices twisted that language to apply to Trump, who, we might remind you, has never been charged with insurrection. In fact, the only reference to insurrection levied against the former president was under the second impeachment, where the Senate acquitted him. Yet here we are.

In general, the ruling was widely condemned, including by those running against Trump in the Republican primary. That is by anyone who doesn’t have a “D” next to their name. Democrats and liberals, however, were utterly orgasmic over the ruling, as polls have shown Trump overtake the demented bag of oatmeal in the White House, Joe Biden, in the 2024 race. Apparently, if the democratic process doesn’t work, having four radical judges decide does.

Democratic Sen. Chris Coons (D-Delaware), who represents Biden’s home state of Delaware, applauded the decision, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation, telling CNN that “any action that makes it less likely” for Trump to be reelected to office was a good thing.

“I’m confident Joe Biden will be reelected regardless of which Republican is on the ballot, but this could really shake up the Republican primary,” Coons told CNN News Central. Coons made that statement despite a recent poll conducted by Monmouth University that showed Biden’s approval rating actually lower than his cackling hen vice president Kamala Harris, who is less popular than Mexican drinking water.

Moreover, Biden has fallen behind Trump in seven swing states, including Pennsylvania at a two-point differential to North Carolina at nine. Forbes reported a Bloomberg/Morning Consult survey showed Trump leading Biden by a cumulative average of five points despite the legal assault being waged on the former president. All told, 58% of voters in those seven states–Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin–have a negative view of Biden.

Therefore, what better way to get rid of your opponent than to have him disqualified to run against you?

Coons said the Colorado court determined Trump had participated in an insurrection, which is absurd by any definition of the word. There was no threat whatsoever that the participants in the January 6 Capitol siege would be able to overthrow the government, with an overwhelming majority of the participants engaged in what appeared to be a guided tour of the Capitol. A very small minority of participants, which reports say included embedded FBI informants and agents, engaged in violence.

“There was a finding by the court in Colorado, looking at the evidence that former President Trump participated in an insurrection,’ Coons said. “I was here on Jan. 6th, we had an impeachment trial for President Trump after the events of Jan. 6, I think it’s undeniable, in my view, that he participated in an insurrection and, as such, should be disqualified from holding federal office.”

Recall that during remarks to a crowd before the Capitol siege, President Trump told the crowd to “peacefully and patriotically march to the Capitol and make your voices heard.” That is what Coons and the Democrat mob call “inciting an insurrection.”

Under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, it reads:

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

None of that matters to Coons.

“Whether it is a court that determines he’s unfit to hold office because he took up force against our Constitution or mobilized a mob against our Constitution, or because the electorate throws him out, I don’t think it really matters,” Coons said. “If he’s unfit to hold office, we should all be encouraged by any action that makes it less likely that he will return to the presidency.” [emphasis added]

“Protect our sacred democracy?” “Election interference?” The next time you hear Democrats utter those terms, look at what was done in Colorado and look who is applauding it.
