Dirty dishes allegedly led to brutal father-son stabbing in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Timothy Ray Lisby, 59, was arrested June 14th on charges of aggravated assault against his 31-year-old son Christopher Allen Lisby after he brutally stabbed him in the heart during an altercation over a sink filled with dirty dishes, according to authorities.

Indianapolis Fox affiliate WXIN reported that Timothy and Christopher were arguing over the dishes when the argument became an altercation with the two wrestling to the floor. A roommate living with the two men, Jeremiah Green, described the rapidly escalating violent incident to reporters.

“Tim had a spoon in his hand and started stabbing Chris with it,” Green said. “Chris said, ‘Jeremiah get the spoon out of his hand,’ so I did.” Green continued that once disarmed of his spoon, Timothy returned to the kitchen and emerged with another weapon. “Tim ran in the kitchen and grabbed something sharp and thrust it into Chris’s chest as hard as he could."

The witness said he then dialed 911 to summon help while Timothy appeared to come to his senses and began trying to administer aid to his son. “He was putting pressure on Chris and saying, ‘Don’t die. Don’t die,’” Green told reporters.

When Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived the younger Lisby was lying in the living room with a "bleeding wound to the chest," according to an affidavit.

Paramedics arrived and rushed Christopher to an area hospital in critical condition where he stabilized after surgery, but subsequently died the next day.

Green added, “Since that day I’ve been crying and I can’t sleep.” According to an affidavit cited by WXIN, it was just too late, Christopher had suffered a fatal laceration to his heart.

“Chris was my friend. I loved him to death,” he said. “I’ve never seen anyone bleed that bad and that really hurt me. When he stabbed Chris in the heart, it’s like he stabbed mine.”

The incident is still under investigation and the charges against Lisby may change. Green told reporters that he believes Chris was murdered and will testify against Timothy in court.

“I’m gonna do whatever it takes to put him down,” he told WXIN. “He killed the only friend I have in the world. He’s gonna pay for what he did.”

Timothy Lisby is due in court on June 21st and is being held without bond. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine the final charges.
