DNI: Almost 1,200 foreign terror suspects are inside the U.S. thanks to Biden... and there are likely more

WASHINGTON, DC- On April 29, President Trump celebrated his 100th day in office. While there were some positive developments during that time, there have also been some ominous developments, the results of four years of Biden’s open-border scheme. 

The Center Square reports that earlier this week, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard posted to X that nearly 1,200 alleged terrorists have been identified as being inside the U.S. illegally. 

Many of those terrorists belong to transnational gangs and Mexican drug cartels and have been identified after President Trump designated cartels and transnational gangs as foreign terrorist organizations. After that designation, Gabbard directed DNI staff to pursue terrorists illegally inside the U.S. 

Gabbard said the National Counterterrorism Center has “identified and provided leads to law enforcement on approximately 750 individuals with ties to MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and the Sinaloa Cartel as a part of its screening and vetting process.” 

The Center Square has previously reported that TdA expanded into at least 22 states during the Biden administration. Criminal gang and cartel members are only one portion of those identified by the NCTC. The rest are related to Islamic terrorism. 

According to Gabbard, the NCTC is “actively working to track down the location of illegal migrants who previously used an ISIS network to enter our country so they can be deported immediately,” the Director said. That referred to 400 illegal foreign aliens the Biden administration allowed into the country, and who were identified by the Department of Homeland Security. 

“To date, we have identified more than 400 of these individuals with terror ties,” Gabbard said, although it isn’t clear if these 400 are the same individuals identified by DHS last year. 

In sum, nearly 1,200 illegal alien terrorists have been identified by the NCTC as being inside the United States. 

On his second day in office, President Trump issued an executive order designating Mexican drug cartels, Tren de Aragua, a violent Venezuelan transnational gang, and La Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), a violent Salvadoran gang, as foreign terrorist organizations and specially designated global terrorists (SDGTs). 

“The Cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western Hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries with significant importance for our national interests, but also flooded the United States with deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs,” the order reads. “They functionally control, through a campaign of assassination, terror, rape, and brute force nearly all illegal traffic across the southern border of the United States. In certain portions of Mexico, they function as quasi-governmental entities, controlling nearly all aspects of society.” 

The order continued that the two transnational gangs engage in “campaigns of violence and terror in the United States and internationally are extraordinarily violent, vicious, and similarly threaten the stability of the international order in the Western Hemisphere,” presenting “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.” 

The executive order directed the Secretary of State, Treasury Secretary, Homeland Security Secretary, and Director of National Intelligence to take action to implement it. 

Secretary of State Marco Rubio followed through on February 6, when he officially declared the Foreign Terrorist Organization designations, The Center Square reported. 

Gabbard said the agency is working to improve national security vetting processes in all federal agencies. 

“We are also working to ensure those who enter our country are vetted through a single source, as well as those who already entered our country illegally,” noting that “will streamline processes to prevent terrorists from entering our country, determine who is already in our country, identify those posing a threat, and remove them.” 

A record number of Known or Suspected Terrorists were reported at the southwest border between the fiscal years 2021-2024, 687 in sum, part of a total of 1,903 apprehended during the Biden administration. A majority, 1,216, were apprehended at the northern border with Canada over the same period. It is unknown how many gotaways there were, but that number is likely significant.
