Days after an assassin’s bullet came within an estimated centimeter from killing former (and future) President Donald Trump, let’s revisit a “fact check” from USA Today from earlier this year.
Alex Soros, son of billionaire Marxist Trump hater George Soros tweeted out a picture of a bullet hole and a hand holding $47 in cash, a not so subtle intimation that Trump, the 45th and would be 47th president, should be shot, a post that given this past weekend’s event should give pause.
An article in The Gateway Pundit at the time suggested, and common sense would dictate, that the tweet was a threat against Trump. The tweet shared an article from The Atlantic, a far-left rag, that suggested that crime and inflation have “largely evaporated.”
The article read, in part:
According to Gallup, 77 percent of Americans believe there is more crime in the U.S. than there was a year ago. Economic sentiment has begun to tick up, but it is still near the lowest levels on record. This may help explain Donald Trump’s strength in electoral polls. A recent Wall Street Journal survey found that U.S. voters overwhelmingly believe that Trump will do a better job than Biden when it comes to the economy (52 percent to 35 percent), inflation (51 percent to 30 percent), and crime (47 percent to 30 percent). Voters seem to be yearning for a return to normalcy of pre-pandemic times, and Trump is promising to give it to them.
The absurdity of Trump as the normalcy candidate is almost too much to bear–especially because the normalcy that voters are desperately craving is, in many ways, already her, and Biden helped deliver it.
Not sure what The Atlantic’s definition of “normalcy” is, but having an estimated ten-million foreign invaders cross our border, violent crime that is at record highs (despite “statistics” claiming otherwise), and now the first assassination attempt on a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in 1981.
The Conservative Treehouse, in response to Alex Soros’s tweet, wrote the following:

President Donald Trump is going to be the 47th President.
USA Today, however, in one of their “vaunted” “fact-checks” rated the allegation that Soros was threatening Trump as “False.”
Soros claimed, according to USA Today, that the image of a bullet hole in glass and a hand holding $47 in cash were “created from two stock photographs.”
Yes, it was just a coincidence.
“Last year, the crime and inflation crises largely evaporated,” the ignorant Soros wrote. “So did the leading theories about what had caused them.”
A spokesperson for The Atlantic, Anna Bross, told USA Today that claims Soros’s tweet was a threat were “absurd and irresponsible.” Because the leftist rag The Atlantic would never stoop to such a level, nor would Trump-hating Alex Soros.
In addition, a gutless spokesperson for the Open Society Foundations, of which Alex Soros is Chairman, said the characterization of Soros’ post as a threat was false.
“Alex was sharing the positive news that crime and inflation rates are trending downward–developments that should be celebrated by all Americans,” the spokesperson said. “Nothing more, nothing less. It’s amazing the lengths to which some people will try to distract and divide the country in the face of objectively good news.”
It’s stunning that the same people who claim our “sacred Democracy” was on the “threat of collapse” when Donald Trump was president, now expect the American people to look the other way when that is, in fact, what has been going on for the past 3-½ years.
Perhaps the most amusing thing USA Today does in its “fact check” debunking The Gateway Pundit’s claim is who it cites:
-Anna Bross Senior Director of Communications for The Atlantic
-The anonymous Open Society Foundations spokesperson
-Alex Soros’ X post
-The Atlantic’s propaganda article
PolitiFact, another far-left propaganda operation, also “debunked” the claim.
If USA Today and PolitiFact debunk a claim, you know you’re right over the target.

Some countries have banned any Soros from operating or even stepping foot in the country. Why hasn't the United States? Soros finances Antifa, clearly a terrorist organization with much death and destruction towards Americans.
