BOULDER, CO - On Sunday, June 1st, six people were injured in what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is calling a "targeted terror attack" at an outdoor mall in Boulder, Colorado, against a group of Israeli supporters that were peacefully gathered.

According to Fox News, FBI agents have arrested and charged 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman in connection with the targeted attack that set the supporters on fire. Boulder Police Department (BDP) Chief Steve Redfearm said that officers were called to the county courthouse on Pearl Street at approximately 1:26 p.m. local time for reports of a man, who had a weapon and was setting people on fire.

The FBI said six people, ages 67 to 88, were injured and taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. Soliman, who was yelling, "Free Palestine" during the attack, was arrested at the scene without incident.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said that the attack is being investigated as an act of "ideologically motivated violence," based on early information, evidence, and witness accounts of what transpired. The attack took place near an event put on by "Run for Their Lives," a grassroots organization that facilitates global run and walk events calling for the release of Israeli hostages being held by the terrorist group, Hamas.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Center on Extremism reviewed videos from the scene and said that the suspect appeared to say, "How many children you killed," "We have to end Zionists," and "They are killers." The Associated Press (AP) reported that Soliman used a makeshift flamethrower in the attack.

No charges were immediately announced, but officials said they expect to hold Soliman "fully accountable." Video from the scene showed a witness shouting, "He's right there. He's throwing Molotov cocktails," as a police officer with his gun drawn advanced on a bare-chested suspect with containers in each hand.

FBI leaders in Washington, D.C. said they are treating the Boulder attack as an act of terrorism, and the Department of Justice (DOJ), which leads investigations into acts of violence driven by religious, racial, or ethnic motivations, said the attack was a "needless act of violence, which follows recent attacks against Jewish Americans."

On X, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote, "We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available."

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed that the National Counterterrorism Center is working with the FBI and local law enforcement on the ground. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said the attack, which happened on the eve of Shavuot, appears to have been a "hate-crime" targeting Run for Their Lives demonstrators.

Weiser wrote in a statement, "From what we know, this attack appears to be a hate crime given the group that was targeted. People may have differing views about world events and the Israeli-Hamas conflict, but violence is never the answer to settling differences. Hate has no place in Colorado. We all have the right to peaceably assemble and the freedom to speak our views, but these violent acts — which are becoming more frequent, brazen, and closer to home — must stop and those who commit these horrific acts must be fully held to account."

Colorado Governor Jared Polis described the attack as a "heinous act of terror." He wrote, "I am closely monitoring the situation in Boulder, and my thoughts go out to the people who have been injured and impacted by this heinous act of terror. Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable. While details emerge, the state works with local and federal law enforcement to support this investigation."

Weiser and Polis were the first two Jewish American men elected to statewide office in Colorado in 2018. Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote on X, "Terror has no place in our great country."

The attack happened less than two weeks after two Israeli Embassy staffers were gunned down on May 21st in Washington, D.C. Simon Wiesenthal Center CEO Jim Berk said, "Both attacks are the direct result of months of anti-Israel propaganda, moral equivocation, and silence in the face of raging antisemitism. The nonstop demonization of Israel and Zionism on our campuses, in our streets, and across digital platforms has created a climate where hate flourishes, and physical attacks — even murder — of Jews is inevitable."

Actually, terror does have a place in our great country. The doors were thrown open as soon as Joe Biden took office. This is on Joe and his handlers, whoever they may be. This Mohamed, deported how many times? Criminal record. He's in the U.S. ? Yes, terror has a place in our country. Thank God Tom Homan, ICE, FBI and LE at the local, regional and state level are working together to shovel the criminals back to their country. I am confident we have understandings with every country with returning citizens we have rejected. I hope the message is that we are not planning on going through this again. As for those still here, the ones who came here to rape, rob and kill, every citizen in the country has a right to keep and bear arms. At the home level, the street level, in a public setting, every American has the right to carry a pistol or revolver they are proficient with. Elderly people are now laying in a hospital in Boulder, Colorado, being treated for terrible burns. The news may not say it as it is, to those without discernment, provacative: we are at War on our home turf now.
