NEW YORK CITY, NY - An illegal immigrant wanted for allegedly kidnapping two 13-year-old children, a boy and a girl, at knifepoint in a Queens wooded park area was recorded on video getting cornered by an angry mob of New Yorkers. The suspect, Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, a 25-year-old from Ecuador, is accused of bouding and gagging the children and raping the female.
Inga-Landi was recognized by members of the Queens community after police released surveillance footage and a sketch posted in the neighborhood.
"Everybody knew who we were looking for. We had tips coming in actually naming the perpetrator. They knew who he was. They saw him out on the street," Chief Joseph Kenny told the media.
Chief Kenny also told the media the success in capturing the suspect was largely due to the police sketch, which is no easy task.
Retired NYPD sketch artist and owner of Battle Tribe Art, Matt Rendar, told LET in an exclusive statement, “We bring the victim in to interview them about the suspect. We build rapport with them to maximize the effectiveness of the interview. The sketch artist begins to get an idea of what the suspect looks like in his mind. These photos and descriptions make the foundation of the sketch to best illustrate the suspect. Then we reveal it to the witness and watch their reaction.”
Several Queens residents who recognized Inga-Landi joined together and eventually caught up with the suspect. The residents then cornered and surrounded him to ensure he didn’t get away while they called NYPD.
A physical confrontation took place between those holding him and Inga-Landi, who reportedly begged for help.
“He started yelling ‘Help! Help! Help’ in Spanish, and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s what the little girl was saying,'” a local resident involved in capturing the suspect told the media.
One of the women can be heard in the two-and-a-half-minute video angrily yelling, “He’s a rapist! He’s acting like he don’t care! He don’t care that he raped a 13-year-old girl!”
Inga-Landi then squirmed under a nearby vehicle and waited quietly.
The woman recording the video then said to other residents nearby, “He’s hiding under the car because we beat the sh** out of him, yeah I put my hands on him, I beat the sh** out of him!”
NYPD officers arrived at the scene to arrest and escort the bloodied-up Inga-Landi to charge him with several felony crimes. But the suspect first requested medical attention for his injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries.
Trump Weighs In
President Donald Trump grew up in the same area of Queens. He told Fox News Digital, "You could go down and go to the candy store, walk back — your parents never even had a thought of anything happening. This is a different world. My parents never would have even had a thought that something could happen."
He continued, “These are Biden migrants. They are flooding our country. They are flooding our cities and states."
He added, "I’d like to pay my highest respects and love to the parents and family members — this tragedy should never have happened."
Inga-Landi faces multiple charges including rape, sex abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, and kidnapping.
