LAS VEGAS, NV – According to law enforcement authorities, a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

The suspect, identified as 50-year-old James Gina III, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder involving a deadly weapon and owning/possessing a gun by a prohibited person.

On Monday, August 14th, around 2:00 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) received a call about a “possible injured person” at a local residence. According to reports, responding officers found the suspect and a deceased female victim.

The initial investigation indicates that Gina was the victim’s boyfriend and as of this writing, is the main suspect in the case. Gina entered a plea of not guilty and is currently being held without bail. His next court date is scheduled for September 5th.

Additional details surrounding the alleged murder, the cause of death and the victim’s identity were not immediately released. However, the Clark County Coroner’s Office will eventually release the cause and manner of death.

Gina has a long criminal history record, including several violent crimes. Some of the charges he has faced include kidnapping, attempted sexual assault, domestic battery, coercion, possession of a stolen vehicle, abuse and neglect of the elderly, assault with a deadly weapon, and operating premises to alter, destroy or disassemble a motor vehicle.

This is not the only recent case of a suspected murder in Las Vegas. According to the New York Post, in the month of July, 31-year-old George Anthony Bone was arrested after living with his roommate’s decomposing body for two months.

LVMPD stated that Bone, a convicted sex-offender, killed his roommate and lived with her decomposing body inside a barricaded closet out of fear that she would come back from the dead.

Records show that Bone is a level three registered sex-offender in the state of Nevada after accepting an Alfred plea back in 2013 to attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14. For that crime, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Prior to that incident, in 2012, police initially arrested Bone on charges of sexual assault and lewdness with a child stemming from allegations a teenager made about an assault two years prior when she was 11.

The roommate that Bone killed was identified as Beverly Ma, his longtime friend from high school who moved in with Bone during summer 2022.

Bone initially told police that he knew Ma had been “dead for a while” and that she committed suicide. However, police determined that she was a victim of a homicide and believe she was strangled.

Investigators believe that she was killed on May 4th, which coincide with records showing Ma made a frantic 911 call. During that call, a man and a woman can be heard screaming at one another with the call ending with a woman’s voice saying “why."

In addition to the open murder charge, Bone also faces a charge of failing to register as a sex offender. He is listed in the Nevada Sex Offender Registry under a different address than where police responded to regarding the murder of Ma.
