WEST PALM BEACH, FL - A Florida man, Junior Boucher, 36, is facing first-degree murder charges in connection to the death of Brian Hiltebeitel, a 65-year-old man at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club of West Palm Beach who was "viciously attacked." Police have called the bludgeoning to death of Hiltebeitel with his golf clubs a “random act of violence.”
As reported by ABC News, Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape told reporters that the attack on Monday led to Boucher being arrested “after a short foot pursuit,” which concluded with him being found “unclothed.” Citing an affidavit the outlet reported that Boucher tried to flee arrest and was taken into custody “only after the use of an electronic control weapon."
"At this time, it does not appear that Boucher had any legitimate purpose for being at the golf course. This appears to be a random act of violence where Boucher used the victims' golf clubs as weapons and viciously attacked the victim, ultimately killing him," Pape said.
Boucher had been reported missing by his family just an hour before the incident at the golf course.
According to the police affidavit, an eyewitness said he heard Hiltebeitel crying out, “He’s trying to kill me,” as he fled from Boucher, who allegedly pursued him wielding a golf club. The suspect then began striking the victim with the club, dealing him a blow to the head and chasing him toward a water hazard near the first green.
Continuing to beat him with the club at the pond, Boucher is said to have "jumped on top of Hiltebeitel and appeared to be choking him," per the police report. Hiltebeitel stopped moving the report said, and then Boucher struck him several more times in the head, emerged from the water, and “stripped his clothes off.”
The victim was pulled from the pond having suffered “multiple deep lacerations to the back of his head and on his person." He was declared dead on the scene.
Boucher who has a lengthy criminal record with past arrests for drug charges and domestic battery is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail according to Fox29. He appeared in court on Tuesday. The suspect was ordered to have no contact with witnesses and no access to weapons and claimed to the court that his name is really Manuel Acosta Rodriguez.
