OCALA, FL - A Florida nurse who is currently serving time in prison for sexually assaulting her 15-year-old stepson, has had her medical license revoked weeks after her husband filed for divorce.
The woman, 35-year-old Von Yates, is currently serving a two-year prison sentence after being caught having sex with her teen stepson on the couch at their family home in July 2024, the New York Post reported. Yates soon-to-be ex-husband, Frank, caught them red-handed.
Yates pleaded no contest to lewd and lascivious battery and was incarcerated in September 2025 on a reduced sentence from the original charge of sexual battery.
Following a meeting with the Board of Nursing and Yates' attorney in December 2025, the Florida Department of Health stripped the mother of her nursing license.
Florida health officials temporarily suspended the nurse's license last April, but a final order showed Yates met with the Board of Nursing in October, where her license was revoked after not disputing any of the allegations held against her. Marion County court records show that Yates' estranged husband also filed for divorce in December 2025.
According to an arrest affidavit from Marion County, on the night of July 26, 2024, Von Yates decided to "hang out" with her stepson after putting her two younger children to bed. The stepson was reportedly visiting his father for the summer.
They reportedly played video games, watching movies, and hit a THC vape before Yates tempted the minor by telling him she was bored with the movie, and then expressed how "horny" she was because "she had not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period," the victim told police.
Yates and the stepson began cuddling on the couch, before moving to a make out session — at which point it is alleged that the mother told the boy that "I wish you were 18, because you're not old enough." Yates then "kicked off" her underwear, and engaged in oral sex and intercourse without a condom.
It was at this point, shortly after 1:00 a.m., when Frank — the minor's biological father — came home from his job and discovered the pair completely naked underneath a blanket on the couch, reportedly yelling, "what the f*ck is going on?"
Frank reportedly began throwing objects around the family living room, calling Yates a "c-nt" and a "child predator." According to the original arrest affidavit, the 15-year-old boy ran out of the home, but allegedly heard his stepmom telling his father that the son looked like him "when he was younger."
Frank immediately took his son to his grandparents’ house, where the teen spent the night. The next day, the teen called his stepmother, who allegedly admitted she wished they hadn’t been caught so she could have been “edging” into the morning, and commented that she hadn’t realized how big his “penis looked,” saying it resembled his father’s, the teen told police.
A concerned family member reportedly alerted the police to the crime after the boy's father neglected to call the cops. Yates was arrested in November 2024. She was arrested and charged with sexual battery on a person 12 to 18 years of age and pleaded not guilty in December 2024. She later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge under a plea agreement.
"The family's desire for Von Yates to do additional time is outweighed by their overall concern for the victim's mental and emotional health," prosecutor Shanae Pickens told the just after the mother took the plea deal isn August.
According to the plea deal, Yates will serve two years in the Department of Corrections, followed by two years of community control and will remain on the sex offender registry for 10 years, as well as serving 200 hours of community service and pay fines and court costs.
