MARTIN COUNTY, FL - The Martin County Sheriff’s Office announced it obtained an arrest warrant for a property manager accused of swindling local homeowner associations in the county and spending the money on lavish personal expenses before she vanished.
Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez, 46, is accused of fraud involving HOA accounts she managed while employed by Avant-Garde Property Management. Police say she spent the money on plastic surgery, luxury vacations, and shopping sprees, Fox News Digital reported.
She faces two counts of fraud exceeding $50,000, two counts of grand theft, 61 counts of uttering false instruments, and 59 counts of embezzlement, the sheriff’s office said. Her total bond has been set at $1.35 million.
Authorities believe that Gonzalez wrote checks to herself from HOA accounts over an extended period and concealed the thefts by creating fictitious invoices and false ledger entries.
Subpoenaed records indicate the money was used for personal expenses.
The victim HOAs noticed the alleged fraud and reported it to the police. The sheriff’s office identified the victims so far as the Whitemarsh Reserve Homeowners Association and The Dunes of Hutchinson Island. Police believe Gonzalez may be in the Miramar or Vero Beach areas of Florida.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts or other HOAs that believe they may have been victimized is urged to contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at (772) 220-7000.
