STUART, FL - Famed professional golfer Tiger Woods was spotted being released from a local jail in Stuart, Florida, earlier in March after reportedly being booked on a DUI charge that involved a rollover crash.
According to authorities, Woods was allegedly attempting to overtake and maneuver past a flatbed truck near 281 South Beach Road in Jupiter Island at approximately 2:00 p.m. on March 27 when the incident occurred.
The driver of the flatbed was reportedly pulling into a driveway when Woods allegedly clipped the back end of the flatbed trailer, causing Woods’ Land Rover to roll over onto the driver’s side. No injuries were reported.
Law enforcement responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported to Jupiter Island Police, with Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek revealing in a subsequent press conference that DUI investigators had “determined” Woods may have been under the influence of an intoxicant.
“They did some in-depth roadside tests, and when it was determined, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail,” Sheriff Budensiek stated, further adding that while Woods’ breathalyzer test came back clear of alcohol, he reportedly refused to submit to a urinalysis.
Woods was booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test, with the 50-year-old reportedly being spotted discreetly leaving the facility at approximately 11:00 p.m. on the day of the incident. It’s unclear as of this writing whether Woods was formally arraigned and released on bond or if he was issued a notice to appear and released from custody post-booking.
Woods' latest arrest marks the second time he’s faced DUI charges, with the last instance occurring back in 2017 when he was reportedly found unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle. A mix of prescription drugs reportedly resulted in the 2017 arrest, to which Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving in October of that year, resulting in a year of probation.
