Former Border Patrol chief says he was punished by Biden for offering feedback on border policies

Recently, former United States Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott unleashed a bombshell when he told Martha McCallum on Fox News’s “The Story” that he was punished for offering “feedback” to the Biden administration deemed critical of how it was dealing with the influx of illegals crossing the southern border, Fox News reports.

Scott was watching coverage of Joe Biden meeting with Border Patrol officials last week in Brownsville, Texas, some 300 miles from where the actual border invasion is taking place. Scott called Biden’s meeting with current Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens and Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Gloria Chavez a “photo-op” to depict Biden as being engaged with the illegal immigrant crisis.

“[I]t’s for the cameras…I hate to get political, but I believe the reason that the Biden adminsitration is down there is if he got that briefing in the White House, there’d be no cameras. There’d be a no-show,” Scott told McCallum.

“But they know what it takes to secure the border. We handed them the most secure border in the history of the United States and a roadmap to keep it that way and make it even better, [yet] through 94 executive actions, President Biden completely destroyed border security.”

Scott also disputed Biden’s claim that he needed Congress to sign off on a so-called “bipartisan” border bill, noting he had it within his authority to remove reversals he placed on Trump-era policies that have led to an unprecedented scourge at the border with Mexico.

The former chief added he remained hopeful that Biden would consider any advice offered by CBP officials and rank-and-file officers. However, he noted his offer of advice fell on deaf ears and led to his early departure from the agency.

“I hope [agents are] free to speak openly. But I can tell you from my experience in the Biden administration that was not the norm. If they speak freely, they’ll probably be out of a job,” said Scott, who became chief before former President Trump’s departure and left during the Biden administration.

McCallum asked Scott if that was what he had experienced when he had given his opinion.

“That is exactly what happened to me,” Scott said. “I was following orders to a certain extent. But I gave feedback, and I told them where I thought things were going wrong–and they did not listen to any of the advice we gave them whatsoever.”

Scott was eventually “reassigned” but decided to retire and speak out about the border invasion without fear of retribution.

He told McCallum that Mexico has proven they can mitigate the illegal alien crisis when they choose to do so by enforcing their own laws, telling McCallum there is “less criminality” when the [Mexican President] Obrador administration does so.

However, Mexico prefers to have Biden, a much weaker president than Trump, in power, Scott claimed, and is one reason why Mexico has stepped up its border enforcement to make Biden look good if that’s possible.

Scott said, however, that the situation proves why the Biden administration should take the lead on acting to secure our border instead of “exporting our national security” to Mexico.

“Border patrol should be empowered to arrest people crossing the border, and we should hold them in custody or outside the country [until] their case is adjudicated. It’s common sense,” he said.

“Right now, we’re relying on another country to slow down the flow. But guess what else that means? Mexico and the cartels to pick and choose who enters this country instead of [Biden]...”

Scott also contrasted where Biden visited (Brownsville) and where Trump went (Eagle Pass).

“They don’t want big groups of illegal aliens in the background. They wanted to go someplace slower,” Scott said, while also noting there is an “unseen aspect” in Brownsville due to the presence of NGOs that operate migrant shelters and facilitate transportation.

“One of the problems with the Senate bill that no one’s talking about is it had $1.4 billion more for those NGOs,” Scott said.

Meanwhile, in Eagle Pass, the former president and presumptive 2024 Republican nominee Donald Trump claimed Border Patrol agents are at “war” at the southern border. Meanwhile, the head of the Border Patrol union, Brandon Judd, said agents are “mad as hell” that Biden took a photo op in Brownsville, which has seen a small number of illegals compared to Eagle Pass or even into California.

“This is a ‘Joe Biden invasion,’” Trump said after National Border Patrol Council Head Judd spoke.
