President Trump announces if elected, he will indemnify state and local police officers nationwide from frivolous lawsuits

NEW YORK CITY- The promise made Saturday night at the New York Young Republicans Club Gala in New York City should help secure President Trump the votes of law enforcement professionals nationwide. Police officers have always known that the former president has their back, unlike the current occupant of the White House, who has repeatedly criticized law enforcement officers and painted them as a bunch of racists.

Appearing in one of the most crime-plagued cities in the country, the legacy of the Biden administration, Trump vowed to implement a “law and order” campaign designed to protect police from legal liability, Newsmax reported.

“We are going to do something that I will say is slightly controversial, but it shouldn’t be. We are going to indemnify policemen and precincts and states and cities from being sued,” the former president said in a speech Saturday night. “We want them to do their job.”

Unlike Biden, President Trump has long been a vocal opponent of the “defund the police” movement touted by the radical left, along with what he called “Marxist” attacks on law enforcement. He is vowing to take his newly proposed “law and order” platform to a new level that would protect police from lawsuits to protect America’s citizens. Trump said such a policy was necessary, especially in “Democrat-run cities.”

“Our police and law enforcement has to come back, and they want to come back, and they want to do their job,” Trump said. “And we’re going to indemnify them so they don’t lose their wife, their family, their pension, and their job.”

Several states nationwide have seen legislation passed that removed “qualified immunity” from police officers. Qualified immunity prevented money-grubbing lawyers from filing frivolous lawsuits against police officers for lawful conduct committed in the line of duty. By removing qualified immunity, police officers can be personally sued, putting their personal wealth on the line. As a result, many police officers have retired or outright quit in order to protect their wealth.

Not so with a new sheriff in town.

“We are going to indemnify policemen and law enforcement, and we’re going to tell them to get out, we love you, do your job,” Trump said.

The former president then slammed Biden and his leftist followers for their attacks on law enforcement, laying the blame for the current crime explosion at the feet of BIden and the Democrats.

Trump accused the Biden administration and “criminal justice warriors in the Democratic Party, highlighting that they have “released murderers, rapists, and gang members–savages all–on innocent people that walk the streets of our cities,” Trump said.

“They want Americans to be weak and poor, confused, divided, and afraid,” President Trump continued. “Why they want that, I don’t know. It’s the only thing I can’t figure out.”

“If you put me back in the White House, however, their reign will be over, and America will be a free nation once again.”
