CHICAGO, IL- Biden/Harris’s America.
On Friday, a mob of some 30 people looted a freight train in Chicago while it was stopped at an interchange on the city’s West Side, in another example of the nationwide crime spree that the administration has tried to downplay.
Fox News Digital reports that law enforcement authorities in Chicago said the gang, some of whom were armed, pried open container doors in broad daylight at around 2:40 p.m. and stole merchandise, including air fryers and flatscreen televisions.
The incident, captured on video taken from a police aerial unit, shows the thieves opening the freight cars and then stealing the boxed goods. The suspects were armed with guns and bolt cutters, Fox 32 Chicago reported, citing Chicago PD reports.
The Union Pacific freight train was stopped, awaiting an interchange with a partner railroad, when the criminal thugs began their pillage.
After stealing the merchandise, the thieves loaded the stolen goods into several awaiting vehicles, including a white box truck that showed up to enable them to store their loot and drive off.
“They’re getting creative; they’re bringing a U-Haul to the alley now,” one officer was heard over the police radio.
The footage showed Chicago PD officers arriving on the scene and drawing their weapons as they accosted the criminal thugs. Witnesses told ABC-7 the theft was underway for nearly an hour before police arrived on the scene.
“Rail burglaries are not victimless crimes, and they pose a safety threat to the public, our employees, and local law enforcement officers,” a Union Pacific spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
They also noted that some of the stolen merchandise has been recovered.
As a result of the incident, passenger traffic on the line was stopped at around 4:40 p.m., Metra announced, noting that both inbound and outbound Union Pacific West Line trains were stopped due to “ongoing police activity,” Fox 32 reported.
Metra said service was restored between Elburn and Maywood by 6:50 p.m.; however, it remained suspended between Maywood and Chicago.
Fox 32 reported that six suspects have been arrested.
This is not the first time such a robbery has occurred; ABC-7 reported a similar theft in August.
