Georgia Attorney General says Harris, Democrats have failed black communities

ATLANTA, GA - “Elections have consequences,” Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr told Fox News Digital this week while slamming Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris as the “patron saint of leftist prosecutors.” Carr said that progressive crime policies are failing the very people they are supposed to protect. 

Carr said there was a simple solution for Democrat-run cities being overrun by crime and violence: enforce the law, lock up criminals, and keep the American people and their businesses safe from crime. 

In slamming Harris, Carr said, “she was for defund the police, sanctuary cities, [and] cashless bail.” 

Harris has taken to the campaign trail, bragging about her history as a “tough on crime” prosecutor while slamming her opponent, former President Donald Trump as a “convicted felon.” A partisan Manhattan jury convicted Trump of trumped-up charges levied by partisan DA Alvin Bragg. 

Contrary to the narrative Harris and her surrogates are trying to put forth, she has supported bail funds that led violent criminals out of jail, including the Minnesota Freedom Fund. At least one criminal sprung from jail due to that fund and went on to commit murder after being released. 

“All the DAs that we’ve seen around the country, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, where she was a DA, to St. Louis and even in our state in Athens and even in Atlanta, Georgia…she is the model for what they really aspired to,” Carr told Fox. “And that is the new criminal justice reform, which is don’t enforce the law.” 

Carr blamed such policies for the current high crime situation in the U.S., saying they have become “a roadmap for higher crime.” 

And Carr should know. Earlier this year in Athens, a college community that is the home of the University of Georgia, nursing student Laken Riley was brutally kidnapped, raped, and murdered as she jogged in a park on campus. The murder was committed by an illegal alien who was still in the country and out in the community despite being arrested for a number of crimes. 

“Look at the communities that are most often impacted by this violent crime,” Carr told Fox News Digital. “It’s the communities that Democrats and leftists purport to want to protect, but instead it’s actually conservatives and Republicans that are doing the things to keep people safe. I think that’s critically important.” 

While Harris and her mentor Joe Biden have repeatedly claimed that “crime is down,” part of the reasoning for that is the fact that many large police agencies no longer report their crime statistics to the FBI. In addition, so-called “justice reform” policies have either reduced felonies to misdemeanors or decriminalized certain offenses altogether. 

Also, some police officers, demoralized by Democrats painting them as systemically racist, have simply stopped enforcing the law. Many police departments, including New York, Minneapolis, and others have seen an epidemic of officers either quitting or retiring. 

Chicago, which is hosting the Democratic National Convention, is one-third the size of New York City, however far exceeds the Big Apple in homicides, according to statistics. 

Former Chicago Police Chief Gene Roy told Fox News Digital this week that the Chicago PD currently has thousands of vacancies. According to the NYC Police Benevolent Association, the NYPD is understaffed by thousands of officers, with over 200 police officers per month leaving the department. 

“You can either go down one path where you ignore the law, you avoid the law, crime goes up, or you can enforce the laws,” Carr said. “And you’re seeing exactly what’s happening.” 

Meanwhile, the Democrat Party, which is vehemently opposed to a border wall to protect the US from foreign invaders, is safely ensconced behind a security fence to hold their convention. Democrats have been eviscerated for showing hypocrisy at their convention which is being held only blocks from where a 7-year-old boy was shot and killed earlier this year. The suspect was supposed to be in jail, but a “progressive” prosecutor and judge freed him on home supervision, which he did not abide by. 

Despite being severely understaffed, the Chicago Police Department has thus far been able to handle anti-Israel, pro-Hamas, and anti-American protesters in the city during the convention. Fox News Digital reports that police made 70 arrests Tuesday night when protesters refused to disperse. 

Carr noted that Chicago had once been one of the greatest cities in the country, however that is no longer the case. He said it has become “an incubator of these leftist policies” and is plagued by gun violence, robberies, carjackings, and murder. 

“I think it’s absolutely ironic that the Democrats have gone to Chicago, which now continues to elect folks that just don’t believe in the rule of law, don’t believe in enforcing the law–but then also some of the security measures that they’ve taken to put walls around the convention center,” he said. “When the border is not secure, and they fought any conversation about walls or more safety in our southern border,” Carr said. 

Carr also pushes the Protecting Americans Action Fund, a counter to progressive billionaire Marxist George Soros and his ilk, who have supported campaigns by far-left prosecutors around the country, including Bragg, George Gascon in Los Angeles, and Kim Foxx in Chicago.
