DEKALB COUNTY, GA - A recidivist felon will spend the next 20 years in prison after prosecutors say a confrontation over a single dollar escalated into a shooting at a DeKalb County gas station, as reported by CBS News.
Homer Wright, 46, was convicted of three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony stemming from the June 23, 2025, incident, CBS News reports.
A jury convicted Wright on July 22.
On the night in question, at a gas station on Hillandale Drive in Lithonia, Georgia, Jquante Lenon approached Wright while he was sitting in his truck and asked him for a single dollar.
Wright refused, and Lenon walked away. That apparently wasn’t enough for Wright, however, who then drove close to the curb where Lenon was sitting, drew a firearm, pistol-whipped him in the head, struck him in the face, and subsequently shot him in the left foot.
After shooting Lenon, Wright fled, and Lenon made his way to a neighbor to call 911. One week later, Wright was taken into custody.
During a sentencing hearing last week, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gregory A. Adams sentenced Wright to 20 years in prison.
As a recidivist felon who had previously been convicted of two armed robberies and was again in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, Wright is ineligible for parole.
