SMYRNA, GA - Amid a current homicide investigation, authorities have announced that the dismembered human remains found in a plastic tub and several garbage bags are believed to be those of a 26-year-old woman from Georgia.
On Friday, September 25, the victim was identified by the Smyrna Police Department (SPD) as Shanteria Mosley, known to friends and family as "KT." Police investigating the homicide said the apparent remains of a woman were discovered inside garbage bags hidden in the trunk of a car, Komo News reported.
"One garbage bag was pulled tightly showing the outline of a body part," police said in a news release, adding that investigators contacted the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office.
Once a medical examiner arrived, the bags were opened and body parts were found inside, police said. The news comes after authorities said a female torso was found in a plastic tub at an apartment complex. An alleged suspect, 18-year-old Kingston Bradley, who was already charged with concealing the death of another person, will also be charged with malice murder in connection with the case.
Upon entering Bradley's unit, authorities found multiple blood-stained areas, a bucket of water and a mop, a carpet cleaner, a strong odor of bleach, and a large bloody saw, Local12 reported. Bradley is also facing charges of battery and terroristic threats in a separate case in Cobb County.
Mosley's aunt, Michelle Weaver, said that Mosley left home to make DoorDash deliveries the morning of her death. Weaver said when relatives were unable to reach her, they started tracking her phone and searching for her. Weaver expressed frustration with the police.
"I just want our story to get out, and I just want Smyrna police to have the correct facts where it all began at, what time it began, the time frame," Weaver said. "Don't say y'all found her. Her family found her. Y'all didn't do nothing. Y'all left us. You guys left us to do it ourselves."
Police have not yet revealed how Mosley died. "We are still investigating this case and following up on all leads," police said.
