HARRISON, NJ - Authorities with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said that four teenagers were arrested on Sunday, December 29th, for allegedly holding a 13-year-old girl hostage inside of a New Jersey hotel room, where they tried to sexually assault her at gunpoint.
According to the New York Post, authorities said that police rescued the girl in the morning from a hotel on Passaic Avenue in Harrison, New Jersey, where she said she was being held against her will. She told police that she was locked in a room by the group of teenagers who she said physically assaulted her.
She told police that the four teens tried to sexually assault her and that they had guns on them. Officers did recover two handguns and hollow point bullets during a court-authorized search of the hotel room. All of the teenagers were arrested and all of them are from Newark, New Jersey.
Prosecutors said that two 15-year-old girls are facing charges of kidnapping, simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy to kidnap, attempted sexual assault, possession of prohibited devices (hollow point bullets), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. One of the girls was also charged with aggravated assault.
Two 18-year-olds identified as Tavin McCullough and Kyle Green were both charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of prohibited devices (hollow point bullets). In a separate incident, Louisiana authorities said that they have located a missing Tennessee teenage girl after finding her in a tent out in the woods. According to reports, the girl, who is 14, was playing an online game when she met the suspect, identified as Alexander Materne. Police have since charged Materne with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, felony human trafficking, carnal knowledge (sexual penetration) and one count of aggravated kidnapping of a child.
He reportedly took the girl from her home on December 23rd. Police said that Materne took the girl to his house in St. Rose, Louisiana, where the two engaged in sexual acts. Materne told police that the girl didn't reveal her age until then. Authorities said that Materne and the teen left the location in St. Rose.
He bought her a tent, food, and water and dropped her off in a wooded area in Tangipahoa Park. Materne then went to Jennings, Louisiana, to celebrate Christmas with his family. The teen's family learned about Materne's ties to Jennings and contacted the police to check for Materne and their child.
He was located at a family member's residence in Jennings. When questioned about the teenage girl, he agreed to show detectives where he dropped off the girl in Tangipahoa Parish. Police were able to locate the girl in the woods. She was transported to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
