When we think of our law enforcement officers and military personnel, we often envision heroes in uniform, tackling crises with unwavering strength. Yet behind that façade lies a hidden struggle. Many of these brave individuals grapple with the haunting effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related issues. In the quest for relief, equine therapy has emerged as a unique transformative approach to healing.
Hillenglade Farm (HHH), a beacon of hope and healing, offers critical support to those facing these challenges. Located in a serene and supportive environment just outside Nashville, Tennessee, HHH specializes in helping first responders, veterans and their families who are grappling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related issues. Our free equine-assisted programs are designed to address the unique experiences and needs of law enforcement, military personnel and their families, providing personalized solutions that foster wellness and recovery for each individual.
Equine-assisted therapy provides the hope and healing that helps restore the lives of our brave heroes. This therapeutic approach has a surprisingly long history, stretching back thousands of years but most recently in Europe in the 1940s to assist military members during WWII - and then came to America in the 1960s.
Equine-assisted therapy has been proven to effectively aid and reduce symptoms in individuals suffering with mental, physical, and emotional challenges including PTSD and suicide.
Through our HHH Team of compassionate equine-experts and handlers of our rescued horses and donkeys, Hillenglade has served thousands of our heroes and their families with restorative gatherings and sessions since 2010.
Hi, I'm Jennifer O'Neill the Founder and President of Hope and Healing at Hillenglade (a 501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Charitable Organization)... I'd like you to take just a few minutes to watch the video of Nate's Story to truly understand how beneficial our programs can be: Restoring Hope: How Equine Therapy Saved a Veteran's Life and Family.
In Nate's own words, he'll tell you that when he arrived at HHH as a sponsored Harvest Program Participant, he was suicidal on a daily basis and on the verge of divorce as well as losing his wife and kids. Over his two month stay on the farm, he completed and graduated our HHH Curriculum, and now, not only has he reconciled his family, he has a new vocation as a Certified Farm Manager, HHH Horse Handler and Leader, and has embraced a future filled with hope, healing and purpose!
