HALTOM CITY, TX - Eduardo Javier Ordonez Godoy, 35, an illegal immigrant from Honduras was captured in Oklahoma City, OK after allegedly committing a shocking series of crimes and terrorizing a 22-year-old woman. The Haltom City Police Department has said that Ordonez Godoy is accused of abducting the woman from her Haltom City apartment on Christmas Eve because he needed money. They added that he “seemed almost proud of what he did.”
According to KDFW-TV, the woman was leaving her apartment on the way to work on Christmas Eve when the suspect approached her armed with a gun and forced her into the backseat of her car. He then forced her at gunpoint to make an ATM withdrawal.
Cash-in-hand, Ordonez Godoy then forced her to drive approximately 22 miles to Grapevine, TX where the horror truly began, according to charging documents obtained by Fox News. The man then allegedly tied his victim to a tree near the Camden Apartments in Grapevine and threatened the woman telling her he would “prostitute her” or “sell her organs,” Haltom City Police Sergeant Rick Alexander said.
Ordonez Godoy then drove off in the victim’s car and the woman was able to escape her bonds and summon a nearby resident for help. The woman was shaken but reportedly unharmed. Haltom PD responded to the call and her vehicle was reported stolen.
In a statement posted to social media, the HCPD said, “The stolen vehicle was entered into law enforcement databases with a note of the violent nature of the offense. The victim was physically unharmed during the incident.”
“On the evening of December 25, 2024, an alert patrol officer with the Oklahoma City Police Department located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 2100 block of SW 39th Street, Oklahoma City. The suspect was inside the vehicle and was taken into custody. Evidence connected to the reported offense was recovered at the scene.”
"He smirked a lot, he giggled, and, you know, he was almost proud of what he did," Alexander told Fox 4 reporters. “Obviously she was terrified,” he continued. “No one expects this kind of thing walking outside early in the morning on Christmas Eve.”
"He claims he's a thief. He wants money," the Sergeant added. "But, you know, in this case, clearly he went beyond that and brought a firearm into it."
After Ordonez Godoy was taken into custody he was booked in Oklahoma City and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, use of a firearm while committing a felony and various misdemeanors. Per The New York Post, he’s facing aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges in Texas. ICE has also placed an active detainer on him due to his illegal immigration status.
The outlet reported that he has been arrested on similar charges before and was previously deported, he has also admitted being associated with a violent gang in his native country.
