GALLS and Law Enforcement Today are proud to announce Officer Autumn Likes of the Independence Police Department in Ohio as the winner of the Next Generation of Protectors Award, an honor recognizing emerging leaders who exemplify excellence, innovation, and service in law enforcement.
Well-known for her leadership, forward-thinking, and dedication to her community, Autumn has already left a lasting mark on her department and beyond, serving as a model for what tomorrow's law enforcement officers could be.
Likes founded her department's drone program, turning a vague idea into a lifesaving asset that has increased officer safety and made the police department even more effective in serving the public. As a mentor and trainer, Officer Likes teaches and guides new officers, showing them what it means to be a professional and someone of high integrity. She is also deeply committed to protecting the most vulnerable people in her community, ensuring no one is left behind.
Officer Likes also teaches self-defense classes to women, empowers them to look after themselves, and shows up for the people she cares about, whether through a big initiative or a small gesture.
Her hard work, heart, and drive are exactly what the Next Generation of Protectors Award was created to celebrate. Officer Likes is the face of a new generation of law enforcement officers rooted in service, imagination, and trust.
Through receiving this award, Likes was nominated and then selected for the Young Officer Award and will be inducted into the National Law Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame at their induction ceremony.
