Shock claim: ICE and DHS refuse to take report of terror threat, blow off Journalist Ben Berquam

The Department of Homeland Security is facing scrutiny only after Real America's Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam published a video in which he is seemingly ignored and even thwarted from reporting a suspected terrorist who was permitted to enter the United States via the porous U.S.-Mexico border.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, Bergquam, a journalist well-known for his coverage of the ongoing border crisis, contacted DHS to inform the agency after he recorded a video of the suspect in the line of his work and obtained his first name. He was told, however, the department could not accept his information.

The outlet reported that an illegal alien who traveled from Iran to Jacumba, California told Ben that Islamist terrorists and other hostile foreign nationals are penetrating the southern border.

“If I was governor here, I would be afraid,” the man told Bergquam, adding “all these people” coming across our borders are “military age.”

Subsequently, Bertram told Gateway Pundit, "What’s even scarier is that after that interview, I received an email from somebody in that camp reporting a potential terrorist on the route with him. I’m in contact with the FBI now, but you won’t believe the response I got from Homeland Security – truly pathetic!"

In posts to X, Bergquam explained, "I received what I believe to be a credible tip on a potential terror suspect that has come across our border and spent an hour and a half yesterday trying to get somebody to investigate it. This is part of my phone call with Border Patrol who suggested I contact the Department of Homeland Security tip line. I truly could not believe what I was told!"

He added, "Not only are Joe Biden, and the Democrats allowing our country to be invaded, this is how incompetent the process for reporting potential threats is. I guess when your priority is advancing DEI, and attacking January 6 patriots I shouldn’t be surprised. We desperately need to get people in charge of this country that put this country first again."

As previously reported by Law Enforcement Today, when Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was asked about the 300,000 reported illegal immigrant encounters in December 2022 alone, Mayorkas claimed that DHS is "limited" in its capacity by Congress. However, based on Bergquam's experience, the department may be more limited by its own internal policies.

He concluded his report to X noting, "I did finally get a congressional office and a different agency to take it seriously and have passed the information on. The only thing I can’t help but think is how many more have gotten through, and we have no idea who or where they are! Pray for our country and getting involved to help save it."
