Kentucky Woman Busted After SWAT Raid Uncovers Alleged Chop Shop

LOUISVILLE, KY - A 34-year-old Kentucky woman is facing a litany of felony charges after authorities reportedly discovered a chop shop at a Highland neighborhood home where the suspect was taken into custody on scene.

While the “chop shop” trope often depicted in action films over the last few decades would bring to mind a clandestinely located garage in some nondescript urban setting, a seemingly innocuous-looking neighborhood in Louisville was allegedly serving as host to such an illicit operation.

On February 24, SWAT officers converged on a residence located within the 7500 block of Michael Drive following an investigation into a possible chop shop being operated at the home. Police reportedly recovered several stolen vehicles at the residence, with numerous parts removed and VINs reportedly swapped out.

A RAM truck was also recovered as part of the investigation, with authorities alleging the vehicle was being used to transport stolen vehicles.

During the law enforcement operation conducted at the Highland neighborhood home, police took into custody 34-year-old Amanda Guerrero on numerous charges including organized crime, receiving stolen property, trafficking in stolen vehicles/parts, obscuring the identity of a machine, possession of forged instruments, and tampering with physical evidence.

While authorities in Louisville haven’t divulged the specifics behind the intel obtained that led to the February 24 SWAT operation, five days prior to the operation, Louisville Metro Police officers apprehended two reportedly armed suspects driving a stolen vehicle along I-65 South. The identities of the two suspects apprehended have yet to be publicly revealed by the department.

Bond for Guerrero was reportedly set at $50,000 cash, with jail records noting she remains in custody as of this writing. If convicted of the charges, Guerrero could face decades behind bars. It’s unclear whether any additional persons of interest have been identified or apprehended in the broader, ongoing investigation as of this writing.
